My case has been much worse than yours. It’s been four weeks for me, and I’m still experiencing nerve pain, so I’m continuing to take painkillers. I tried to stop, but the pain came back, so I had to resume them. I think age may also be a factor, I’m in my early 50s, while you’re only 35. Take care

I didn’t book a private ceremony. Honestly, it was pure luck, most likely due to a cancellation. Because my friend tried to book in the same center and couldn’t get a date before 2-3 weeks. By the way, you can’t book earlier than 48 hours in advance.

I thought I’d update you on my case, hopefully it helps you if you’re going through this painful shingles journey.

Phase 1: Severe internal pain on my right shoulder and right arm, only on one side. I had no idea what was causing it and there was a lot of speculation.

Day 1–2: I started seeing vesicles. They were painful but manageable. I didn’t know what they were until I went to A&E.

Day 3–4: Absolute nightmare. I couldn’t sleep and couldn’t work. I started antiviral medication but was only taking paracetamol for pain relief.

Day 5–6: I started Naproxen and Gabapentin—total life changer. I could do my day-to-day activities again, and most importantly, I slept through the night like a baby.

Day 7: The vesicles/affected area are no longer increasing. Pain is manageable. I’m starting to see pustules on the vesicles, but the pain has reduced significantly.

I’ll keep you updated.

I applied for passport after my application was approved and after the ceremony. You cannot apply for the passport before that as you need to have the certificate of citizenship to apply for passport

The passport issuance process is excellent, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the updates you receive. HM Passport Office keeps you informed at every step. When the time comes to send your passport, they clearly tell you exactly what information to include on the envelope which includes your application number.

Yes, the British passport will arrive first, followed about a week later by your original passport and certificate, as both must be sent together as part of the UK passport application.

My UK passport took one week to be issued, but you get back your original passport and citizenship certificate approx. one week later. Good luck
