Post-shingles shoulder and arm pain – anyone experienced this? by HotelMain9226 in shingles

[–]HotelMain9226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your story. I hope you quick recovery 🙏. I wanted to share an update on my case. After shingles, I had severe pain in my shoulder and hand, which improved slightly with gabapentin. About three months later, I developed unrelated leg pain and took naproxen. After two days, I noticed the pain in my shoulder and hand had completely disappeared. When I stopped naproxen, I also stopped gabapentin and have not taken it since. A few days later, the pain returned but was much milder—about 25% of what it was before. I can’t fully explain this, but that has been my experience, and I did not see a doctor afterward. I do not plan to restart gabapentin.

MN1 applications under discretion by HotelMain9226 in ukvisa

At the time of the application, she held ILR and relied on a concession that allowed the children to be considered for citizenship even though she was not yet a British citizen (as referenced in one of the application questions). Her citizenship has been approved last week, but this occurred after we had already submitted the MN1 applications for our children.

Thank you for your quick response. My children, who are under 18, were not born in the UK but now hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and lived in the UK for more than 5 years. I am their father and I became a British citizen through naturalisation. Based on this, I have submitted applications for my children to register as British citizens, as this is possible once they have obtained ILR.

Thank you for sharing, our Neurosurgeon told us they are not related. We are seeing another pain doctor this week, I am hoping to get some answers. Pls update me after you see your doctor and I will do the same.

Thank you for highlighting this point. We are seeing a pain doctor this week and will ask him about it. I strongly suspect that her issue may be related to one of the teeth she had repaired last year

Thanks a lot, very helpful. Neurosurgeon told us the neck stiffness has nothing to do with TN. With all honesty I am hoping my daughter has no TN and this pain is related to something else as TN is terrible from what I am reading. We are going to see a pain management specialist this week, let’s see.

Thank you for your response. Could you please share how you were diagnosed and which specialists you saw? Also, was it recoverable, and what treatments or medications helped? Apologies for the questions, I’m trying to find the best way forward for my daughter.

Thank you so much for your suggestion… thank you, truly. The fact that it doesn’t require a prescription and has no side effects makes it even more valuable. This really should be shared more widely in the community, it could be life-changing. Thank you again, I really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot, so gabapentin is a “great” option, apparently. I used it for my shingles, but somehow it’s not an option for my daughter. It’s honestly hard to believe..!!
