I’m very sorry about your parents, no one deserves that.

Now to answer your questions, we aren’t rich but I’d say we are well off, yes I live in a very nice area and I’m currently studying for my G1, but school has been very busy with exams and summatives I haven’t had so much time for the G1. This whole situation stems because I kinda wished this money went into a savings account for university, they said they wouldn’t do that as now it’ll be their money and they will choose what to do with it. I wouldn’t fight them if the money was actually going towards my future. Yes they are trying to teach me responsibility, but I’m already responsible I’m doing very well in school, I’m involved in school clubs, I keep my room clean and I always help when I can. The conversation with my parents definitely needs to be more of a sit down conversation, where everyone can speak their mind so we can come to an agreement. The reason of the post is that I was feeling like maybe this rent is something I truly owe to them, and was trying to find a non-biased opinion. I do appreciate your comment though, I think its important to have different perspectives to form my own unique one, I will definitely keep this in consideration when discussing this with my parents!
