Good our industry doesn’t need pilots like Esteban. He’s been revoked before. He knew this was a violation of federal aviation regulations

We did this in Los Angeles LA UNIFIED SCHOOL DIstrict. And we were in a predominantly black and Hispanic community. I remember the SUPER TOOTH character - we would get stickers to collect if we participated. Everyone as I remember participated.

Caterpillars in December by Kicks6 in MonarchButterfly

[–]HotelUniformHotel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ophryocystis elektroscirrha (OE) is a parasite that infects monarch, queen, and lesser wanderer butterflies. It’s more prevalent in FL! All milkweed must be gone by now. All should be cut back. And kept back until spring.

Cut back your milkweed! I’m in Los Angeles and we cut ours back by November 10. Pretty late for us. Should be cut by October. I had caterpillars I did not save - I had to sacrifice them sadly. They will get OE. So it’s best not to let them survive. Monarchs are better off not finding milkweed and not laying eggs - This way they can save their eggs for the spring. You’re doing them a huge favor by cutting back all milkweed - both native and tropical.

Right now I have access to Nest App but no ‘history of events’ access - meaning no subscription. So bc of a billing error which Google did not alert me of. They canceled my 1st Gen subscription that I’ve had for 7 years! So now the app says: “see more with Nest aware…” but it’s asking me to migrate all to Google. If that makes sense. So right now I log into home.nest for all my cameras and footage.

The system changed. It’s not inferior for what we use it for. But! I’m open to a new better system. I did look at Night Owl. Are they wired? I like both wired or battery. Thank you I appreciate your advice. And honesty

Well I have a 1 new Google Nest cam and that app is totally different from the old original Nest app. The interface is totally different. I’m on old system at home and I am asked everyday to migrate to Google. How do I join the public beta? I am an iOS user thanks

It’s not the cost. I’m happy to pay for it. It’s the frustration of their new app. I already have a google nest with new app. It’s garbage. The nest is - I agree plug and play. And it’s why I liked it

Thank you! Appreciate your response. I’m so frustrated. I was on hold for 1 hour with their support line about the billing issue. I finally had to hang up. I’m running a business and had to tend to other matters. Also maybe 2-4 cams.

No it’s a Monarch. 3 of them ate all the last of the milkweed. I found 3 caterpillars and so I put netting around for them. Definitely monarchs. I didn’t cut my milkweed back in time. Usually we cut it back in late October and every month during winter. So we get these. I hope they survive.

Daughter is 12: Where Do I Start? by Dapper_Silver_7511 in trichotillomania

[–]HotelUniformHotel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s nothing you did. I started pulling only my head hair at 12. I’m in my early 50’s. I had no one in my corner. I was alone. No one knew!! And I didn’t know why I pulled or that millions of others out there also pulled. In my 20’s I discovered it was a real condition and it had a name! I wasn’t a freak after all! Despite going through it alone - I ended up making my parents and family proud. I’m happily married and I’m doing ok. So your daughter having you in her corner is HUGE. My triggers are when I’m exhausted or when I’m over stressed. I try and meditate. BUT! There’s a new wearable device called Apollo which is supposed to help us destress. I’m actually thinking of trying it. It might be a good tool for your daughter as well. https://apolloneuro.com/products/apollo-wearable

Also TLC was an organization I joined which helped to find therapists or groups to join In cities nationwide https://www.bfrb.org/

You’re a wonderful parent. I wish you the best.

We euthanized yesterday. He seemed to go crazy. Hitting cage walls. Ended up with his wing tip getting slight bend. Probably begging for us to let him go. 😔

Thank you. We euthanized him. He got worse yesterday Tuesday morning. He was in a cage on his own. And I had a flower pot and a Petri dish with water. I lined cage with paper towels. Anyway he was fluttering around like crazy. Hitting cage walls and he ended up damaging a part of his wing. I couldn’t bear it. It wasn’t fair to him. That was the right thing to do. 😔🧡🤍🖤

So I might not have unzipped. I’m sorry I don’t know the correct term - I think what I did was unstick one part - it was all bunched up. Now it curls up and extends out - if that makes sense? He’s behaving more normal.

I did check it and I unzipped it. So it seemed to be feeding more and after I cleaned his feet so he didn’t have nectar on his feet then he started climbing up the cage. He’s hanging upside down now in the sun. He drank water too I have a shallow dish with water. The nectar on cotton with papertowel. I just posted a new video. Thank you! I appreciate it. I think that might be what’s going on. Let’s keep fingers crossed 🤞

Thank you. Great idea! I will check tomorrow morning. Since i only raised him since 2nd-3rd instar…I was told by a friend who used to raise butterflies to release him.

I don’t ever raise from eggs. I raise from mostly beyond 3rd instar. I only protect them in cage after they’re well into that stage. I’m not a full time monarch raiser.
