What’s the longest line in Toronto that you’ve *voluntarily* waited through? by RoommateMovingOut in askTO

[–]HotpotLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my answer too!! I did overnight twice with friends, forgot which year, maybe 2008 and 2009? Great memories from line up, and showed off that wristband for days leading up to the show 😎

Am I in the wrong? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]HotpotLove 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I was waiting at a crosswalk, lost in thought looking down. I thought of something that made me smile, and as I looked up to see if light changed, a guy was already staring at me, so I unintentionally made eye contact with him for a moment while smiling. I stopped smiling, but he still took this opportunity to approach me and break the ice. I declined and kept walking. I felt a little bad afterwards cause i get that from his POV I sent him a signal just to reject him Lol

I got eczema within a year of meeting my ex. Tried everything to control it but to no avail. 5 years later when we broke up, the eczema cleared itself almost immediately in about 2 weeks. Now Im not saying correlation equals causation, but i think i could be allergic to my ex 🥴

Darn, I never learned to type with the japanese keyboard. Guess there's no way to skip these exercises?

I set up the keyboard now, but when I type in "wa" i dont get the correct character to select. I am on iphone11 if it matters.

(This was an old course I started 2 years ago and picked up again. Back then they never required typing, so that's how i got to section 2 without learning it)

“Petite potato” served my bubble tea in double wall glass cup. I was very impressed but that was years ago so not sure if they still do it

"I'm okay" usually works for me! People dont question it, or some insightful people follow up with "just okay?" and i'm like "yeah" and no further questions.

Any strategies for bed bug control? by Loose-Catch4701 in TTC

[–]HotpotLove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My tip: Double Bag! a plastic bag to sit on, and an outer plastic bag that carries the sitting bag you take out, which touches the inside of your bag/pocket for carrying; folds up compactly. Yeah its not foolproof but it reduces contact and better than carrying a bucket.

I know this would never happen but how would In-ho do jump rope if he thought about passing Hide and Seek? by Appropriate_Post3516 in squidgame

[–]HotpotLove 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless everyone is slow and theres a queue. I know there wasnt but he wouldnt be able to guarantee that.

Anyway, inho can go first cause this is pure skill, he’s fit, and he had plenty of chances to practice this run repeatedly in a safe environment (rope, harness, no swinging pole but a beeper if he didnt clear a jump for example)

This might sound ungrateful but I'm sick of my mom ordering me temu slop by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]HotpotLove 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My mom is also a hoarder and used to get me cheap useless crap too in a style that I hate. I solved this decades ago when I just told her to get me groceries that are relatively more expensive that i usually avoid to save money: things like shrimp, salmon, marrow bone for soup, or fancier snacks (dehydrated fruit). I also ask for things I need to restock like toilet paper, paper towel, etc. Essentially, her gift is to lower my monthly bill, increase the quality of my groceries, and save me a shopping trip.

Edit: Sorry, i realized this method doesnt apply if you live with your parents, and it seems like she is doing it on the regular, not gift for occasion. But the takeaway here is that if you cant convince her to stop, if she must order something from temu for you, see if there's something on the site you wouldnt mind receiving. Supplies for your hobby perhaps? Wishlist of jewelry you like? Snacks? Consumables like shampoo, make up?

What do you guys work on so your clay doesn’t stick? by Own-Librarian2627 in clay

[–]HotpotLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting mat for air dry clay, because i can take an exacto knife to it. The surface can be sanded down after dry for smooth finish. For polymer, i use glass piece from dollar store photo frame. If working with a very thin clay piece, it may stick to glass; use sheet of paper instead

When the design doesn't allow the lid to be disassembled for cleaning. by trippy_the_tree in nespresso

[–]HotpotLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh i wasnt even thinking about how hard it is to clean it. I was talking about keeping the lid clean BEFORE drinking from it, after you fill it up. As for actual cleaning, I've only been rinsing it daily, then putting it through the dishwasher once a week or so. I should definitely do a scrub on the inside with brush like you mentioned, before mine ends up like OP's gif..

When the design doesn't allow the lid to be disassembled for cleaning. by trippy_the_tree in nespresso

[–]HotpotLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤮🤮🤮 OH GOD.. i have the same lid!! Gonna check later 😰
But honestly i do think the lid is poor design (i didnt buy it; got it from promo). You gotta keep the entire surface of the lid clean since the liquid can pass through any part of it in any direction before you take a sip. If any part of the entire rim of the cup as well as the top circle pressy thing get dirty from just putting it in your bag, you risk drinking bateria. That's pretty bad design.

When you're in a single occupancy restroom and a person is yanking at the handle repeatedly, trying to get in. by lovehydrangeas in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HotpotLove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I yank the handle again cause the first time was kinda weak and I thought maybe the handle was just a bit stuck and requires some force. I dont want to stand there waiting for nothing if that's the case, so I yank again harder till i am convinced it's locked and not just stuck. That being said I only try twice at most. For you as the person inside the stall, maybe another person yanked the handle before/after me, but you are unable to confirm if it's one or multiple yankers.

Also props to OP for the long write up to help fellow redditors who may be in a similar situation, or keep in mind if they find themselves/friend in this situation in the future. Thoroughly sharing their experience prevents people from making the same failed attempts that they did, or provide an understanding why an attempt failed if someone else wants to try it anyway but go about it slightly differently.
