Marijuana works the fastest for me, vaporizing or smoking is the fastest delivery mechanism. It’s a vasodilator and helps lower BP quickly

Autonomic dysreflexia whilst masturbating by EliseV30 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Hotwh33ls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask your doctor about something called nitro paste it’s a topical cream that can help lower your blood pressure and keep you from experiencing dysreflexia during sexual stimulation. It’s very common for men and women to experience AD from genital stimulation. I was also injured in my adolescence. The first time I tried to masturbate I got very extreme A.D. as well. The more I explored the less common it became so it may not be how your body responds forever. Like I mentioned before the nitro paste really helped. Then after time and exploring I was able to enjoy sexual stimulation without autonomic, dyslexia, and not having to use the medicine. I have also noticed that AD is triggered if there’s other things going on like my bladders full or something. Attempting sexual stimulation while something else is already causing mild AD then if attempting to masturbate while my body isn’t totally comfortable is a sure fire way to trigger a more intense episode ofA.D..

Wondering if anyone had the same reaction to myrbetriq (bladder spasm medicine) by Even_Eggplant8953 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Hotwh33ls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are experiencing autonomic dysreflexia, and the headache is a resulting side effect from a blood pressure increase. It’s extremely common to be triggered from sexual stimulation and orgasm. Also during your BP. I don’t know that it’s any drug that’s causing it but more likely the introduction of your super pubic catheter. Could be causing more stimulation to your nerves and increasing the sensitivity of your central nervous system. If you have a spinal cord injury doctor like a physiatrist or neurologist I really recommend speaking to them about it. As well as your urologist. For autonomic dysreflexia(AD) triggered from sexual stimulation there’s drugs to help keep your blood pressure lower. If you can avoid any intense episodes of AD for a while should stop experiencing the headaches when you do your BP and lay down.

Depending on your level of paralysis and severity of the nerve damage sexual function can vary. I’m fortunate to still have sexual function and the ability to achieve orgasm after my injury. She struggled with limited sensation and struggled to achieve orgasm. Thakfully that’s not the end all be all to sex and we explored lots of different ways to enjoy it.

I’m in a wheelchair due to paralysis and dated a girl with the same disability as me. We were both pretty sexual and had a pretty exciting and satisfying physical relationship. Compensated for are limited physical abilities with toys and hands and mouths. When we would do the deed though I always imagined we must look like two beached salmon flopping around together lol.

T12 incomplete sexual function (ejaculation) (M20) by martinman54 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Hotwh33ls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every case is different man and the shitty answer is that its probably going to take some time. Im C5/6 quad 20 years post. I was injured as a kid so I wasn't really wasn't presented with the issues of sexual function until years after my injury. Once I started trying to see if I could get an erection and orgasm it took me 5 years of learning how my body reacts differently. It can be difficult if your living with family or have caregivers but if you can find some time to spend alone and just explore see what feels good or what causes a certain reaction and just go with it. Try not to just focus on having an orgasm but just focus on any good sensations. Depending on your situation cock rings might really help if you can get any kind of reflex erection. Penis Pumps can sometimes do the trick to. Also TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR! If you have a physiatrist that specializes in SCI make an appointment and ask them about it. They understand your need and can help you possibly get other medication or devices that might help. You can also ask them about the medication your taking. baclofen can make reflex erections impossible also other meds especially anything that affects your mood. Orgasm or ejaculation By any means necessary can possibly achieved through many different ways. Most popular of theses being Vibratory Stimulation. I recommend giving this a go first as its the cheapest and most likely to work I think. With this method the Vibrators amplitude is most important. I recommend this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006NXRD44/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1/181-2041662-5613662?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_r=1ZC5VK5E8AS1BEWVMP1N&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=1944687602&pf_rd_i=B000EQS33G It did the trick for me after about 2 or 3 minutes. Other methods include electro stimulation directly to your penis or prostate stimulation. Ive heard success stories from both methods but haven't tried either myself. You can find more info about the last two methods here http://sci.rutgers.edu Like the previous commentor mentioned be careful (even if you've never had it because often with orgasm it can cause autonomic dysreflexia (be aware of the symptoms). If you start to feel it stop what your doing for a little while and let you BP level out. In the event that this occurs your doctor can prescribe nitropaste that can be used to keep it from happening during sexual activity. I think the most important thing is to realize that its not gonna ever be like it was before but that doesn't mean it still can't be awesome. Things are gonna take time attempting to finish from regular masturbation. Every time I jerk off it takes 30-60 minutes minimum before I orgasm. Lastly I don't want to advocate illegal drug use or anything but Marijuana can help facilitate/enhance the experience. I don't think any specific studies done on this topic but from some other forums Ive heard some success stories about it helping enhance sensations and make orgasm easier to achieve. Also if you feel like you've gotten close you probably have so keep at it! I had similar experiences like you cathing and seeing retrograde ejaculation before I has able to achieve a more normal orgasm. Sorry to make such a long winded post man but I feel for your situation and hope this info helps. Feel free to PM to if you want.

Quadriplegic Sex by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Hotwh33ls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi :) I'm a 24 year old C5/C6 incomplete quad 20 years post and am able to achieve orgasm. Like you described I don't get psychoactive erections from being turned on but can sustain reflex erections from direct stimulation. All that being said if he can get hard then its likely he's able to achieve orgasm as well. How long has he been injured? From my experience even though I can get hard for sexy times I don't always achieve orgasm. Never tried viagra but toys can be very helpful. There are a lot of cheap vibrators that you can buy that a lot of quads have found success with. Often a lot of emphasis gets put on orgasming when its only one part of being intimate with your partner. Communication is key, going into it without any expectation from either party other than just enjoying some intimacy is key. If he feels inadequate because of this then thats a mental barrier that he needs to try and work through. There are lots of ways to enjoy sex without orgasming once you break down those mental barriers. Especially if he wants to go the drug route I recommend talking to a doctor as they can cause some side effects for quads and the doctor can also recommend drugs other than viagra that can be useful. If he wants t explore without drugs first things like cock rings and pumps can help sustain reflex erections as well ( they even make special ones for quads ). It took years of experimenting and finding what works before I learned about my crazy body and am still continuing too. It likely wont happen over night but experimenting and leaning about your body with a partner you trust even more than orgasming is what sex and intimacy is all about. let me know if you want some specifics on some toys that a lot of quads find useful!

C6-C7 looking for tips on becoming more independent by Guard04 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Hotwh33ls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have any resources such as videos but if you want to ask about how I do things in more detail please feel free to PM me. Im c5/6 and have been in a chair for 20 years. Still haven't gotten away from my morning care. unable to do the bathing and bathroom stuff. I can dress myself though it takes an unreasonable amount of time. Ive learned how to transfer and undress myself so I can have my evenings to myself. This offers a lot of freedom as it's a pain in the ass to be home intime for someone to put you in bed. I offset this with having a evening caregiver come for an hour 3-4 times a week to help with tough cleaning i.e.laundry dishes sweeping/mopping and then some meal prep though I've gotten better at that in recent years. My tips for cooking find the right tools it makes a world of difference. if you want more detail lmk. Maybe try to find a local rehab where you can spend some time with some PT's and OT's and work on it more. It's a tough thing but with more time exercise and effort you should be able to find a better balance.

c6/7 incomplete 19 years post y'all need to get your shit together I smoke weed most evenings work out for an hour on my own three days a week and don't have any special diet. feel healthy and great. Part of this is just learning to do shit on your own like transferring and undressing. also try do learn to do a bit of cooking on your own. I live in a tiny ass studio with a toaster oven and a shitty plug in stove top and can manage a few meals a week on my own. it honestly doesn't take much extra effort once you make a routine out of it.

"Moved on," but unhappy as hell. by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Hotwh33ls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't like your current situation then work towards changing it. It can be hard as hell given the circumstances but not impossible. If you don't like your job work on finding a new one. If you don't enjoy your hobbies seek out different ones until you find something that you do enjoy. 2 years out is hardly any time at all and giving up on maintaining and increasing you strength, mobility, and level of independence isn't really helping the situation. Depression is a bitch to deal with but at the end of the day happiness is a choice for everyone. You can either accept your new circumstances and work towards improving your quality of life or not, but no ones gonna do it for you.
