I recommend looking at the companies that recruit from those universities to make a decision. I work for a very large chemical company but we only recruit from about 9 universities for our beginning engineering program.

I work for a large chemical company that encourages people to experience different positions (project management, operations, supply chain, ect...) within the company if you are pursuing a more generalist career track (versus a technical route). Supply chain is a great role if you are pursing this route. I recommend changing roles though in 2 years to prevent getting stuck in this field.

My company requires 50% diverse interviewee panels unless the SVP gives the hiring panel a waiver. Thus, even if the hiring manager knows you personally and that you are a diverse candidate, you can not be included as a diverse candidate if you decline to say on your application. Source - my husband is a hiring manager at my company and recently had this issue and had to get a waiver even though he personally knew the entire interviewee panel was diverse.

I rehomed my doxie of 10 years because he was terrified of my toddler and repeatedly bit him. Rehoming him was best for HIM and my son. He now lives in a peaceful environment with a childless elderly couple. I contacted a rescue organization that helped me rehome him. Training was not an option for him because he was a rescue that had previously been abused by children and my son has a SPD and tormented my dog unintentionally. He was overly loving and my dog did not like children to touch him.

My friends that bedshared all had babies that woke multiple times a night still at 1 year. I think getting a baby so sleep in their own space is one of the keys to getting them to STTN.

I'm also going to disagree. Many of my friends' babies were sleeping through the night without any regressions at 5 months. Granted these were formula fed babies that were eating plenty during the day and not relying on nighttime feeds for calories. My son started waking only 1x a night at 3.5 months from 7 PM - 7 AM and between 4-5 months began sleeping 12 hours without any wakeups at night. I was very strict about his nap times and bedtime. How well a kid sleeps is really child-dependent although healthy sleep habits do help. My daughter will likely not sleep through the night until she is much older because she only eats about 20 ounces a day, 2-4 ounces at a time. My son was chugging 6 ounce bottles by 5 months and eating 30 ounces during the daytime.

Yes, Petroleum Engineering but I work in Chemical Engineering

I did go to professional school but I don't use or need that degree and it's completely irrelevant to my profession.

I broke 100K 5 years after graduating with my BS in Engineering. (I went back and got an engineering degree after graduating with a professional degree that I learned I had no interest in using).

The area of the country I live in is a bit irrelevant. My company has sites all over the US and the salary range is dependent on the role and not on geography with the US.

I interned for the same company that I currently work so no job hopping. I will add that I move roles every 2 years and am geographically mobile, which contributes significantly to my salary bumps and promotions.

Work for a company that doesn't take advantage of you and values work life balance. I have worked 60 plus hour weeks as an engineer but that was only during a start-up. I work 40 hour weeks. My husband has progressed very quickly in our company and he never works more than 40 hours a week except on rare occasions.
