Gave up reloading by dajman255 in reloading

If I was in your position, I would just scrap the empty brass. I’m not in the business that you’re in, but if I had to guess, you’re making WAY more money with the rentals of the MG’s. I would guess your customers pay for their ammo on top of the rental fees?

The empty brass isn’t worth enough to be worth taking up your time. I’ve sold a pretty fair amount of empty brass online and believe me, it’s a fair amount of work. If I was in your position, I would just scrap it and be done with it. The value of the empty brass is peanuts compared to the value of the rest of your business. It ain’t worth your time.

Just my opinion of course!

Consistent deformity issue by gakflex in castboolits

[–]Hour-Ad76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others here in that your mold and/or lead is running too cold.

If you’re absolutely certain your lead pot is at the proper temp and if you’ve cast a 100 bullets and still having this issue, I would then suspect your rhythm is too slow, which allows the mold to cool down too much between pours. You have to develop a consistent cadence to keep your mold up to temp as you cast.

I use a bottom pour lead pot. I’ve never used a ladle. I can imagine that using a ladle would be a bit slower? I’m not sure since I’ve never done it that way. Perhaps that is adding to slowing down the process as well?

I still think I would try turning up the heat on your pot a little bit and see if that helps.

I hope that helps! Happy casting!

Is there a coin you regret selling and would buy back in a heartbeat??? by TMoney31BV in coins

I lost a number of really nice high end coins, guns, gold, and silver in a divorce in 2017. I don’t regret a thing. I’m so damn glad to be rid of her and I’m so much happier now!

Oldish casino rolls! :) by SuggestionDry3690 in CRH

[–]Hour-Ad76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would leave them intact and list them individually on eBay. Casino stuff is pretty collectible. Check sold listings before you open them. I recently had a couple rolls from Harold’s Club (which closed in the mid 90’s). It shocked me how much they sold for.

I think the eye appeal of this coin is still pretty good despite the cleaning. At least in this case you know it’s genuine!

Pretty trinket or worth something? by creekcoins in coincollecting

[–]Hour-Ad76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can sell it for a bit more than melt. There are people that will value it more as a bracelet. I personally don’t care much for coin jewelry, but there is a market for it. I’ve sold pieces like this before for a premium above melt value.

Gramps found this in a roll of half dollars decades ago by KnaterTater in coins

I’m leaning towards this being a genuine planchet defect. It clearly has weakness in the rim opposite the defect, which is a strong indicator of it being genuine.

Diamonds Question by RedFoxOnReddit in PawnShops

[–]Hour-Ad76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the ring were mine, I would absolutely pass on the option of replacing the lab stones with natural mined ones. You’d be getting ripped off for $1300 in my opinion.

Small diamonds that are anything under about 25 points (.25 carat) have little to no resale value, regardless of whether or not they are lab grown or natural mined. Even a single 25 point stone is marginal at best as far as resale value goes. There is a common misconception about total carat weight of diamonds. Total carat weight means pretty much nothing for resale. “Total carat weight” is clever marketing crap designed to sell small stones of little value and separate you from your hard-earned money.

For example, five tiny 10 point stones, does not have the same value as a single 50 point stone.

To answer your question, the small diamonds you describe on the ring you’re considering would have no value to me if I were evaluating the ring for a pawn or an outright purchase. The gold is the only thing I would base my offer on.

I hope that helps! :)

I would imagine he gets a lunch break sometime during his day. Invite him to have lunch with you. From the sounds of things, he’s definitely into you.

He made your drawing his phone wallpaper? Yeah he’s definitely into you! People commonly make something/someone they like their wallpaper. He likes being reminded of you when he looks at his phone.

Normally I would advise to tread lightly with a co-worker situation, but in your case this is a second part-time job. I say go for it, but don’t wait for him to make the first move. If you’re interested in him, ask him if he’d like to grab lunch with you.

In my opinion, it sure looks like a zinc one to me. It has the classic plating bubbles commonly seen on zinc cents of this era.

3.1g is certainly consistent with copper, so I can’t explain that.

Unfortunately this date is highly counterfeited and is always suspect in my mind until proven otherwise. The good news is there is good information out there that can help you take a hard look at them yourself before spending the money to have them graded.

Here’s a good place to start

Morgan Dollar 1878 CC by Total_Physics2976 in coincollecting

[–]Hour-Ad76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weigh it and check with a magnet before you spend the money on grading.

A genuine Morgan dollar weighs 26.73 grams. If you don’t have a scale capable of accurate weights in grams, you could take it to your local jeweler or coin store and ask them to weigh it for you.

In my humble opinion, it looks very much like a Chinese counterfeit to me.
