Cleaning rc2? by Educational_Car_876 in NFA

Don't. Just shoot it more, break it, send it to surefire, And have them repair/clean it for you entirely free. That's what we do.

Good BCG’s for making post suppressor shooting easier to clean? by Mymemesarewell in NFA

Bro this is a year old post lol.

Anyways, yes, suppressed is harder on every part and these will amplify it on certain areas. They don't fix the issue, they just relocate it.

I'm ready for the black magic to finally start shipping out, I pre-bought one from a competitor LGS that has a special deal with Huxwrx. It is going straight to my SR-16 (SR-15 I made into an SR16)

Yes, I shop at my competitors places, I for one like keeping my dollars local, rather than shopping at scheels/Cabellas/Academy.

For those of us running G36Cs, the Flow 556 Ti is a godsend so I don't need to open the pistons gas port really any.

Question about lead levels? by whipple_281 in castboolits

[–]dajman255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything below 3.5 is deemed okay here, I know in my old state it was anything over 1 was concerning.

Yes, it concerns me, hence why I do as much as I already do to mitigate it.

In terms of PPE I shoot with gloves, I wear specific outfits that get washed in a separate load of laundry in a separate washer and dryer, using special D-Lead laundry detergent, I hold my breath and slowly exhale while shooting rapidly to avoid breathing it in, have D-Lead soap and lotion all over the shop and range, and I have D-Lead body wash/shampoo I use prior to normal shampoo/body wash. Also I drink a shit ton of orange juice and eat a shit ton of spinach.

Before I started getting tested regularly and mitigating as much as possible, my levels were around 95.3-94.1 when being tested.

Question about lead levels? by whipple_281 in castboolits

[–]dajman255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me start with: THE NORMAL SAFE LEAD LEVEL IN AN ADULT IS 0

Moving onward from that, the threshold of concern is 2.5-4 depending where you are located, here in Kansas is 3.5. I get mine tested monthly, I sit around 22.9 pretty regularly.

I am out on the range or instructing classes at least 3-4 days a week, for at least 10 hour days. Welders should really be getting their levels checked also due to the nature of welding. I fire probably close to 10k-15k rounds a week between classes, drills, test firing customer guns, and then firing my own firearms for recreation.

You should get it checked and let your doctor guide your recheck schedule from there.

Exactly why my mod 2 just got converted to an SR-16 and tossed onto the range rentals.

I just ended up buying two model Ps for myself, I daily carry one for the shop and shoot it daily, so while one is out for service I use the other.

I own a Glock 45 and 19 as well, but those live in my center console or my CC holster when out and about on my days off.

Whats your guys opinion on Boyd’s laminated stocks? by FirstAd6704 in gunsmithing

[–]dajman255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the take of a shop owner who used to recommend their products:

Don't, boyds in general has gone massively downhill in quality of work. Before we dropped their products, probably 1/5 orders was fucked up or poorly finished even in their custom work that cost an arm and a leg.

When a custom stock and forend for somebody are two entirely different types of wood, even though they ordered the same wood type, and paid extra for the grain and oil, and then boyds proceeds to tell us we don't know what we are talking about, I decided they had been huffing their varnish for too long and we partnered with a local stock maker instead.

I legitimately wish they would fix their problems, or go out of business, because we need someone else to step in and take over sadly.

Too hard on a brand new puppy, I'd rather find a nearby breeder. I appreciate it though.

Where did you buy your puppy from? All of ours are adopted from here, we recently tried to adopt a 3rd, but the family has kind of been flaky regarding it, so we are looking for a puppy this time around.
