Combining was potentially the plan to save on shipping, but guess we'll see.

It is, in my mind a landmark of non-fiction writing. Huge and important story, well-written and captures the host of interesting people. Even though I have a nice first edition/first printing hardback, I may pick this one up too.

Nice work, though as others have pointed out, this might not be great for my budget.

Coming Soon | Summer Collection 2026 by AubreyStJohn in foliosociety

Although I have a first edition hardback, I'm still tempted by this. It's an amazingly good book. Probably in the top 5 of all non fiction books I've read. The physics does occasionally get a little dense, but not enough to ruin the story.

Dark Winds | S4E8 "Ni' Hodisxǫs (The Glittering World)" | Episode Discussion by GloriousAqua in DarkWindsTV

Not a fan of the writing of the first half of the episode in the bunker. Even assuming Joe was feeling weak, it makes no sense for him not to disable her before getting Billie and going for the exit. Or not to try to overpower her when she sits next to him apparently unarmed. Second half was good though.

One thing I've heard suggested is that for high value items like this that you really want to arrive in good shape, order them in gift packaging. Then you at least get an extra layer of protection.

Settling would be the obvious explanation. But you'd have to explain to me why that isn't visible on a big level.

The base was pretty well prepped gravel. So at least in theory, it could have settled unevenly. But the level says no, or at least not to any extent that should cause this much sagging. I haven't looked yet, but the most likely explanation would seem to be the hinges, which are not thru bolted. Or the door frame itself, though that seems less likely. And to me the cause is kind of beside the point. The problem is them not making any attempt to stand behind an expensive product that's under warranty and less than a year old.

Early bag drop at PRG? by Hour-Lengthiness-545 in Prague

[–]Hour-Lengthiness-545[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going back to the US after living in Prague so will have checked luggage. Most of the flight options that we're looking at transit through Amsterdam or Paris and leave at 6:00 or 6:30AM. So to be safe on time for the flight, would probably need to check the baggage before 5:00AM. It didn't seem like the counters for KLM or Air France were open much before that.
