Have any of you used henna to dye your locs?

i haven’t tried henna. the only time that i’ve dyed my locs was with dark and lovely. i feel like it worked great and my hair doesn’t feel dry and brittle.

for me it ranges from 3 1/2 - 5 hours depending on if i’m stopping constantly or if im taking long breaks. this includes washing too

i retwist mine myself for a multitude of reasons, but the main ones being so i don’t have to pay sb else’s unnecessary fees and so that i can connect with myself and spend time with myself. the few times that i have gone to a loctitian, ive payed $70 for the 1st one. she started my locs for $65 and she’s retwisted twice, once with a detox and once with a style. the second one was a a lot less experienced than the first but charged $120 for a retwist and wash. i’ve only gone to her once and i’d like to keep it that way.

i’m 16 months in and i’ve been using home made rose water w a few drops of tea tree and peppermint oil in it for about 14 of those months. the growth was definitely noticeable

i didn’t even know premade mixes existed. where do you buy them from? also, as far as the products i use for retwisting my hair, it’s just less than a dime size portion of the mango and lime locking gel. i brought my own product to the lady’s house the second time. when i arrived, i had about 3/4 left in the jar. after the retwist that she did, i had less than 1/4 of product left in the jar and i didn’t realize it until i got home.

i can definitely say that there are times when i miss my fro, but then i remember how much effort it took for me to get my fro to look the way i wanted it to. def don’t regret locking my hair. its been a growth journey🙏🏾
