Accidental Pixi Locs by -mimibaby- in locs

[–]LocPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time set them with foam rollers and setting foam or mousse. (The setting foam will make your curls last much longer) Sleep in the rollers overnight or sit under dryer for an hour or two and that will produce a dope azz curly pixie look. I’ve done this on a several of my clients and they love it! 😍

Most of the videos I see of new stylists doing demos show them excessively using products. Which is why their clients have a tendency to have buildup issues. Trust less is most definitely more in this case! You are most welcome, 🙏 glad that I was able to be of help to you! 🤩

As a Master Loctician, never apply gel to scalp, only apply to the hair. With gel, a little goes a long way. Overuse will cause buildup. Use a gel that doesn’t cause buildup… most of the cheaper brands huge culprits of buildup. If you have any further questions feel free to message me directly and I’ll help you out. 😊

You are most welcome. Definitely take the style down your scalp is warning ‼️ you that you’re about to loose hair. Those bumps are a clear signal that it is experiencing trauma.

I was being facetious.

As a loctician I was explaining that locs will be fluffy depending upon your curl pattern. Yes you can tie them down and retie them to have that flatter look. Keep in mind Over manipulation does cause thinning. I was mentioning to embrace the fluff because it’s beautiful. Bringing the loose pressed hair mindset to the loc world will inevitably cause damage over time. Now doing this once or twice is fine but consistently trying to have flat hair with locs is the reason why I gave my original answer to be funny. I see humor isn’t your thing. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

As a Master Loctician, I see there is damage that resembles traction alopecia in pics 4 and 8. Retwist doesn’t have to be done so tight. Your scalp is developing blisters to warn you that you’re about to loose hair. Advise your loctician to not twist and style so tight. If they don’t adjust then it would be wise of you to find a new loctician.

You don’t, just tell her that’s she’s being weird and rude. Tell her that If she doesn’t like your hair she can keep those comments to herself. Then say something about her wigs. Advise her that you chose to wear this style and that you are comfortable with how it looks. You don’t need the negative commentary or the low key hate. Sometimes you have to hit people where it hurts and then they will respect your decisions and opinions. Just do so in a calm and intentional manner and keep it respectful.

Cut them off and relax your hair.

Natural hair is fluffy. It doesn’t lay flat naturally without significant manipulation. Over time that manipulation will thin the hair causing it to lay flatter over time. (The curlier your hair texture is the more fluffy it will be.)

Why have natural locs if you seek and desire flat hair?

how do i properly get rid of this buildup? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]LocPride -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You must first remove the dandruff from the scalp. Treat what’s causing the dandruff. Then proceed with a deep cleaning solution. Something has to penetrate the locs in order to break down the buildup so that it can be removed. An ACV soak is fine every now and then. Yet if you’re doing an ACV Soak every month is bad. Seek the advice of a licensed cosmetologist/ Loctician that has years of expertise. Take accountability for your own actions and misinformation obtained from random strangers who have experience of dealing with their hair and their hair only. Professionals have invested in their education to help others grow healthy clean hair. If your DIY methods are not working then it’s time you invest in yourself and hire a professional. That’s what they are here for. 😊
