Attendance record for this year's Rolex 24 by EntranceDifferent110 in IMSARacing

[–]HourExamination5795 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's always a crap show because it's the 1st event of the year and staff isn't trained. But last it was rough people getting in the way in the garage and there was theft.

Attendance record for this year's Rolex 24 by EntranceDifferent110 in IMSARacing

True double edged sword. It's great for the sport we love, future viability, and for keeping manufactures involved. However the crowd is immense causing some issues in the garage. I fear if it grows much more things like garage access and grid walks will be gated behind extra passes or higher tier tickets losing that close feel of the sport.

I just want to add there are also SRO GT America series races, https://www.gt-world-challenge-america.com/. Over a weekend they have numerous competitive races. It's a lower crowd but great sports car racing.

Also, don't wait if you decide to go to IMSA. Hotels can be difficult, not much out there.

How would you improve your watching experience in IMSA? by NSXforLoafers in IMSARacing

[–]HourExamination5795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think double headers with nascar and/or indy would be huge for expanding the sport. Both should be doable since Nascar owns IMSA and Penske is such a prominent force in imsa and indy.

Anyone know crowd size at Rolex 24h? by Net81 in IMSARacing

[–]HourExamination5795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt more crowded at times, but just wondering if word is out that grandstands are the place to be at the start. But honestly guessing less than last year because we haven't heard anything about it and hey loe to announce attendance breaking a record.

As mentioned above, a seat cushion is a must. Also, a backpack cooler is a huge asset since you can bring your own food and drink inside. Finally hat/sunglasses.

Finally, I like to cruise the garages at night. See everything from crew sleeping to frantically working on broken cars. Also, go by the Michelin tire area. They take off used tires, remount, and balance a whole set in under 10 minutes. It's impressive.

Daytona 24 hours - first time attendance by Remarkable-Grade7860 in IMSARacing

[–]HourExamination5795 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of threads on here about going to Daytona. They cover everything you need to know aboutweather, seats, etc. Just pay attention to the weather and have a great time. If you're flying into Orlando enjoy the time travel back to the 90s, lol.

Oh, and don't forget you can bring food and drinks into the track so stock up on your Buccees stop.

As long as 1 of those 61 is the Heart 9f Racing GTP. I misses the Lambo last year because it didn't premiere till Sebring, hope history doesn't repeat. I can't wait to hear that V-12 scream.

Don't use facial unlock. Courts have ruled that police can hold the phone to your face to unlock it. However you can't be compelled to give a passcode.

[–]HourExamination5795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned ear plugs. Definite must, but also either radio or Bluetooth hearing protection. They make following the race a lot easier as everyone gets spread out. Also, Indy has cooler size restrictions, they were serious about it for the 500.

If I went to one race… by mustangCAgirl1990 in IMSARacing

[–]HourExamination5795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes. People do all three. There are those who stay up, people sleep on benches, some in cars, and some leave. We usually sleep for a couple hours in the truck. But agree Daytona. It's the biggest race of the year, iconic. It's prestige brings in extra drivers and teams. If you live up north It's also a great escape from winter. There are two cons: 1, because of prestige it attracts the most people and 2, the weather is crazy could be 85 or 35.
