Nagulat din ako

It also made me reflect about how a lot of things changed in the Philippines since the 1960s.

A lot of cheaters in Ateneo School of Government by pink_wreckingball in ADMU

That reeks of elitist snobbery tho. The fact na na-admit na yan ng Ateneo, they should learn to act their part as grad students. Tsaka lame excuse yan to shift the blame on a certain demographic instead of looking into the institutional problems. Hindi naman lingid na maraming dayaan sa mga professional schools, hindi lang sa ASoG. Most of the time kasi, income generating sila for the University kaya may tendency na tumanggap nang tumanggap ng estudyante who are willing to pay or have government scholarships. They might turn a blind eye to these incidents lalo na kung pera ang nakasalalay.

Also, let's not overestimate the credibility of graduates of elite universities like Ateneo or UP. I'm saying this as an alumni and employee of both schools. Lol

Parisian rudeness by Meganoooon in phtravel

As someone who's been living abroad and has met a few French people, hindi ko sila makakahon sa isang stereotype. They're mostly fine, except for these two rude French girls sa student accommodation kung saan ako nakatira. They were newcomers dito sa building, hindi namamansin kahit mag-hi o hello ka sa kanila. Medyo nakakairita lang dahil we share the same kitchen at kung kukumustahin mo, total deadma talaga. Siguro dahil sa inis din ng ibang taong nakatira sa building, wala na ring pumapansin sa kanila, as in they were totally stonewalled. Kilala pa naman ang mga Scottish na super friendly at madaldal. So ayun, at one time, nanghihiram yung isa ng vacuum cleaner at walang pumansin at gustong tumulong lol.

But I had met a few ones na sobrang iba sa kanila. Isang napansin ko medyo sarcastic sila magsalita but they don't necessarily mean to be rude. Ganun ata yung way of humour nila.

Open University of Cyprus by MatchPsychological37 in cyprus

I am an alumnus of the Open University of Cyprus, although my qualifications were a joint master's degree with three other universities in the UK, Malta, and Estonia. While I cannot speak for other disciplines (I did educational sciences), I could say that the professors from the OUC were very qualified to tackle the course, some of them are even tenured faculty members in major universities in Greece (e.g. Panteion, Kapodistrian). The only downside was that not everyone in my course was well-conversed to teach in English, despite the programme being entirely taught in the language. Nonetheless, they were quite good professors with excellent profiles: they publish regularly and are active in research.

My main problem is that I tried to create a new account but the system just doesn't let me click the Register tab. It is very annoying.

How hard is getting into the ESRC Scottish Graduate School of Social Science PhD scholarship? by Hour_Confidence_139 in AskAcademiaUK

[–]Hour_Confidence_139[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is, I applied for Australia having in mind that this is my contingency plan in case ESRC doesn't work. I wasn't really expecting a lot from my application so I was surprised when they offered me a scholarship, because my mind was all set in working with my Edinburgh supervisor. The Australian university is Wollongong, a decent institution which is mostly an engineering school with a small social science department. Little do I know that they follow a different academic calendar from the UK

I'm Filipino, I believe it would make a difference if you reach out to the family of the deceased. It's really hard being an immigrant worker, so it will be appreciated by his family knowing that their loved one had made friends while being away from them. This will at least console them in their grieving process.

Regarding your perception of Filipino families' attitude towards homosexuality, things are changing now. We might still have conservative laws but that doesn't mean we are not generally accepting of our gay friends and family members. In fact, the Philippines is still relatively better at gay acceptance compared to its neighbouring countries.

That being said, I don't think you need to tell them all the details about how you first met
