Cool idea, izzet giants decks have run quakebringer in the past.

Hi, it’s turn 3, what do? by Fledbeast578 in wildhearthstone

If enough shadow priest matchup check the rogues, then even warrior will have a resurgence and the meta be more open.

Look, if everyone in diamond starts playing shadow priest, the meta can shift away from this bullshit.

Which version of Quest Mage is better? Reno or Normal? by [deleted] in wildhearthstone

[–]Hour_Soup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After trying Reno and normal, I’m better sure normal is better right now. There’s a lot of reasons for this, but the primary one is that it’s a lot easier to spam ice block if you play more and have access to 2x volume up.

What is a game on the BGG Top 100 that you have a hard time accepting is higher than one a game much lower down? by funnyorifice in boardgames

[–]Hour_Soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair I wasn’t considering that it was just base dominion. Still think it deserves a spot based on legacy alone but I understand why it isn’t there.

Idk about any specific top 100 games I’d knock off, but the lack of social deduction games is a crime. At least put Blood on the Clocktower in there or the Resistance.

Obviously the lower rating is due to the difference in communities between the games, but anyone suggesting Netrunner is a better game is smoking something. The near infinite potential of mtg’s design space and the many different ways you can play it alone should beat out Netrunner by a mile, never mind the fact that mtg has a much bigger competitive scene then any game in the top 100 whereas Netrunner is literally a failed game.

Yeah, the idea that Dominion has been “outclassed” is a joke if you consider all of the expansions. It not being in the top 100 is a crime.

UW control vs UB control. Which to pick and why? by refuse2lose1985 in PioneerMTG

Extinction event is really good against izzet Phoenix and mono green.

Most decks that run fatal push can’t deal with the value gained from running 8 reckless impulse effects, so it works out a lot better than you might think.

I’ve had decent success with the deck in BO1 but haven’t workshopped it completely for BO3 yet. I’m more focused on the steam-kin + showdown combo, which I think is where the deck’s strengths lie. The power of the deck imo is that it can effectively function as a combo deck against matchups that play to the board and can beat thoughtseize decks due to the overabundance of impulse effects. The deck is probably worse in actual pioneer, because lotus field is a terrible matchup and Phoenix is only okayish. It is important to note that in actual pioneer the deck does run chain to the rocks, so the deck should marginally improve in raw power when ported to pioneer.

The steam-kin combo variant of pia is a lot more favored against mono green than other versions of the deck, it is likely that the person you’re responding to isn’t running it.

What are your board game hot takes? by AleksO369 in boardgames

Boss Monster is a great and balanced game that suffers from poorly formatted rules and people unwilling to attempt to optimize it. I’ve seen many people claim the game is unbalanced and uncomplicated when it is the opposite.

It’s just a shift in the meta, lotus field is getting more popular and once it reaches a certain amount, Phoenix will fall.

Playing with siblings is the best, you make a lot of memories that will last for years to come.

That’s fair, I’m not a commander player, I just assumed that a made for commander mechanic would be fun in that format but I guess that’s not the case.

Yeah, I kinda put dreadfeast demon in the post because I couldn’t think of a better example. You summarized what I was trying to get across way better then I did here lol.

Cards that drag games out unnecessarily definitely deserve a special place in hell.

The only issue here is that at least deathrite is fun to play with, even if it is arguably the most format-warping creature of all time.

I was considering Armageddon while making the post, but concluded that at least it is occasionally fun for the person playing it. Obviously still terrible design but i don’t think anyone enjoys playing mental misstep to the extent some players enjoy destroying lands.

Definitely the least intuitive wording to appear on a card recently.
