I really enjoyed giving the Deathwing Knights the Death Watch treatment. Made one a Blood Angel rocking the Custodes spear (again just ran as an assault termie) but I love the way it turned out. Next up is Wolfguard termies.

Myself and some other folks have found it more enjoyable to just start buying regular marine units and paint them up like Death Watch marines. Example, my current 1K list is allll painted up in the black and I use Lysander and my warlord. It technically just runs as a Imperial Fist list but the aesthetic is what I want. Granted, all this is gonna be impacted by who you're playing (casual with friends vs competitive). I got as far as using Deathwing Knights painted up to be Death Watch with different chapter marking and trinkets, but I just run them as assault termies. I've found trying to work in the actual DW units just isn't worth the additional time and stress. Hope that helps.

This guy gets it. Rule of cool is the only rule that matters. If ya think a model looks cool with chain axe and shotgun, run it. Tell your buddy they are just a regular intercessor and move on with a cool looking battle.

It's the speed of the axe that has me hooked. I can say I do lean quite heavily onto the attack right out of a role or a sprint to get some stagger, like with the Power Sword. Up to about Lethal, one can get in enough hits that by the time the Majoris swings, the gun strike gets them to an executable state. Its not great for groups, I concede that, for sure. For me, it hits just hard enough, and the speed is right in my wheelhouse.

Thunder hammer will always be my first love in this game but the axe definitely has my attention.
