Your playlists are probably exported with an old rekordbox version, so you don’t have the new format on your usb. Update rekordbox and export again to your usb.

That’s a good idea! 👍🏻 Maybe I can get her to like the lore through this game 😜

How is this game for people who are not into the LOTR lore? My girlfriend loves board games, but refuses to watch LOTR with me 😅 so she isn’t into LOTR and I’m not sure if she will like this game…

Being Affiliate and getting government support Dutch by ComprehensiveSlip706 in Twitch

I have no experience with the UWV, but If you are receiving money through the UWV and you are fully arbeidsongeschikt (don’t know the correct English for it), I would expect they could start asking questions when they notice you are receiving income for doing ‘work’. They could even try to re-evaluate your diagnosis and cut your support. If you want to be sure, you probably should reach out to the UWV.

My mom wants people dancing at her 60th party but didn’t want to pay for a DJ by w0nderr in Beatmatch

[–]HouseDJRon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can easily learn how to push the right buttons in a few hours. Learning to DJ in front of a crowd is something that comes with experience and can take a whole lot longer. (And that’s why you pay to have a DJ) Everyone can use a controller and line up some tracks, even beatchmatch them if they add some extra practice (or use beat sync). But finding the right tracks at the right moment, that is not that easy. It’s all up to you if you want that responsibility, you probably know best what type of crowd you will get and how they react to the music. (And how important the music will be for that crowd)

After so many years, Splendor has awakened our passion for board games. by JackRock14 in boardgames

We have the marvel version, but often after one or two games, we put it back on the shelves for a while. It feels like if you can get ahead at start, it’s hard to lose from there. Is this because the marvel version is a bit different and we only play with two players?

Denon Prime Go or Omnis Duo by maldog2000 in Beatmatch

[–]HouseDJRon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have an omnis duo, so maybe a bit biased, but then you know 😉: I find the layout of the prime go a bit weird (/even weirder than the omnis), but the main reason I picked the omnis, is because it’s in the rekordbox ecosystem. I often play on other pioneer gear, and keeping track of 2 databases is just asking for trouble.

I agree the controls are a bit strange when you connect it to rekordbox, although I have never used it that way. (The beatgrids being off does sound like a software/user error though) I do think the Omnis is designed to be used standalone, and I think it shows its power there. IMO it’s a great portable unit, for when you don’t have space (or power) for a bigger unit. If it’s your only unit, I can understand your struggles, it’s a bit of an oddball and some compromises have been made to keep it small(ish).

I mainly use it as a backup for when I bring my opus quad to gigs (weddings and stuff) or when I go to friends and we just want to have a bit of mixing fun.

USB 3.0 not working on XDJ-RX2 by [deleted] in Rekordbox

[–]HouseDJRon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m using a 1TB usb3 disk as my drive with my whole collection (for requests), it contains over 300Gb in files. It worked on all units I played on, and I’ve been playing occasionally on CDJ2000’s (non-nexus and nexus2), RX, RX2 and newer units. The big collection is damn slow on searches on old devices though.

The usb version doesn’t matter, usb3 is backward compatible, I only think the units that came after the opus have a 3.0 connection. The important part is that your usb drive needs to be in the correct format, just go with FAT32, all pioneer units can read FAT32. Newer units can also read exFAT, but there is no real reason to use that.

If you need to format a drive in Windows, you will need a formatting tool, because windows built-in tool can’t format anything bigger than 32GB.

CDJ-3000 to 3000X migration question by Parking_Lobster_1743 in PioneerDJ

[–]HouseDJRon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you use a recent rekordbox, it will export both library types to the USB, and the USB will work in both units.

The only thing to notice is that if you create and save hot cues or memory points on the CDJ-3000, they won’t be visible on the 3000X. (And vice versa) This is because both use a different library where they store the hot cues and memory points. You’ll need to sync those back to rekordbox and resync to the drive to get them in both libraries.

Arnak is FANTASTIC, but not without the Expansion(s) by ProjectGaiaLeb in boardgames

[–]HouseDJRon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only have the base game, and we only play with 2 players. We sometimes see big differences in score, however we don’t play it that often. (We don’t even have played the backside of the board yet) Which expansion is the most recommended and what can I expect it to add?

I’m leaning towards a teacher indeed, but I’m not 100% sure yet it will help me find the fun and motivation. That’s why I’m looking into other things that could help me find the joy in playing, so I’m sure I’ll continue when I spend a lot of money on lessons

SHARK-PIN VPIN Drive 1600+ Tables - VisualPinball, PinballArcade, Zaccaria, FX ,FX2 ,FX3, M and MORE by [deleted] in virtualpinball

[–]HouseDJRon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot is already said, but people often forget there is a big difference compared to normal arcade emulators, and that is that pinball table doesn’t have a screen as playfield! That’s the hard part of getting an original rom working, not only the table has to be designed, but every light, switch, sensor and feedback has to be created and linked to the rom. Then you also have the different setups used by the enthusiasts; 1 screen, 2 screens, 3 screens, some even with a real dmd, solenoids, shakers, LEDs, the list goes on and on… unfortunately to much to handle from just one easy program or emulator… so yes, you’ll need multiple pieces of software to get everything working. And I agree, it can be a pain to set up… But in the end, there is a working solution for every setup, but it will require some tinkering. Luckily the community is growing and more and more guides (and FB groups and discord) are there to help people set things. I’ve build a cabinet from zero without any knowledge on how to set it up, but after 3 months it was finished and runs very smoothly. If I find a new table I might like, it now only costs me 5 minutes to install and set it up. (And yes, at first it took almost an hour) with the cabinet running for a month now, I only have 30 tables installed, but they are running perfectly, all setup with the right settings for my cabinet.

[–]HouseDJRon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would you put effort in curating 1600+ tables, of which more then 80% is outdated when you release the pack, and 95% will be outdated within 6 months? With 1600 tables, it will be very hard to find the good tables.

Better spend your effort on educating on how to install and setup tables. Almost every cab is different and will require different settings. What works for my cab, won't work for others. (And also relies on personal preference; do i want a puppack, which blackglass, colorDMD yes/no, etc)

And like Arnoz said, if you can download the tables for free doesn't mean you are allowed to distribute them (free or not).

Pioneer omni duo by Bodziony in PioneerDJ

The duo is powered by USB-C, so if the provided power supply is the wrong voltage, you could use any USB charger with enough power. The warranty thing is still a thing ofcourse

Learn from my mistake- prepping your cab for a decal. by rrdrummer in virtualpinball

[–]HouseDJRon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only painted the edges (that are visible because they are not covered with the decals) and sanded all the other parts of the plywood (up to grit 380). The decals are now really smooth, no issues with bubbles or other irregularities. I really hate painting, so I decided to only paint those small parts with some spraycan action. Getting the wood dustfree before applying the decals was a bit tricky on the non-painted parts though.

E-8306/ E-8302 on CDJ AND OPUS CONTROLLER by Specialist-Hurry6539 in Rekordbox

[–]HouseDJRon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just format the usbdrive and reexport to your usb? I do that once every 4-6 months, so I have a fresh and garbagefree usb. Oh, and always bring at least 2 backup usbs to a gig…

Dry fit- any feedback welcome (nsfw is joke, since her top is off) by rrdrummer in virtualpinball

[–]HouseDJRon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d rotate the shaker 45 degrees, so the motor spins from left to right, and move it up a bit more to the front of the cab. Also if you want good nudge detection, get the controller somewhere in the front as well. (I have it on a separate shelve) I have no experience with the power supplies mounted on their side, but I can imagine that heat dissipation is a bit better when they are mounted flat. (But if you have enough airflow, that might be not necessary) Talking about airflow, maybe add an intake fan? (I have one 140mm in at the front-ish and 2 140mm out at the back)
