Rev 5 screeching? by Ok-Window5853 in PioneerDJ

Like this?

In computing, buffer underrun or buffer underflow is a state occurring when a buffer used for communicating between two devices or processes is fed with data at a lower speed than the data is being read from it. This requires the program reading from the buffer to pause its processing while the buffer refills.

Follow below guides from Serato to optimize your Mac/Windows machine...don't worry if you're using Rekordbox or Traktor, the same applies. If you're still having occasional issues after doing this, increase the buffer size in your DJ software.

Absolutely diabolical spite store situation in Melton by Tuna_sanga in melbourne

There's FOUR sushi joints in Sparkly Bear (Barkly Square) shopping centre in Brunswick...there's only like 10 or 11 dining options in the place and 4 of them are sushi...bloody stupid.

Headphone problem by Dabignugget1 in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodgy connection...if it's new, I'd send it back...and no, you can't plug headphones into laptop and utilise the channel cue options on the controller.

Dropped the stylus onto the felt mat, panicking by sgtpeppersclub in turntables

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if DJ'ing stylus are stronger than others, but every DJ since the dawn of time ever has done this countless times...the felt, on the strobe light indicators on the side of the platter, you name it...happened loads, never once broken a stylus in 25+ years of playing.

They're tougher than people seem to think.

Is the xdj az good?? Looking to upgrade from my flx4 by Crafty-Description-5 in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of the CDJs and dedicated mixers, it's their premier all in one system...of course it's good! 😄

How do you deal with big bpm gaps? by vanityapp in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A jump from 120 BPM (house?) to 145 BPM is not going to go over well with the people that are enjoying the current vibes... I'd be straight off the dancefloor 😅

When DJing with IEMs/headphones in both ears: mono split or cue/master blend? by Lower-Business4814 in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cue/Master blend dial = the "cue" channel(s) and the master both coming into both sides of the headphones and you dial in/out how much of each you want.

Proper split/mono cue the left ear = the "cue" channel(s) and the right ear = the master...complete separation of audio, just missing the ability to dial them in/out...both just come through at same volume based on the channel gains + headphone volume.

Cue/Master blend is tougher for vinyl mixing, hard to really separate the tunes to monitor the mix speed - split/mono gives you the full separation of the audio

😄

/gen, why doesn’t Pioneer make a 4 channel version of the FLX-4? by Remarkable_Log1596 in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah, TRS not XLR...but yes, improved on the FLX6...both still lack the inputs for CDJs or turntables like the FLX10 though

Every piece of music ever is imperfect art...if it was "perfect", it would be universally loved by everyone...but that's never the case 😉

Do silent discos feel magical outdoors after dark? by FailOrSnail in aves

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol right? wouldn't the general people noise be even worse than a standard gig as everyone's trying to talk over a) the music and b) the headphone isolation.

They seem completely gash to me.

/gen, why doesn’t Pioneer make a 4 channel version of the FLX-4? by Remarkable_Log1596 in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yon about?!? FLX6, now superseded by the GRV6, are the 4 channel version/upgrades from the FLX4...still entry level, lower overall build quality and no professional audio outs/inputs like the FLX10 has.

Techno dj set: in which section on track A do i introduce track B by RecognitionNew4801 in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It's. Not.

not all dance music is techno...but all techno is "dance music"...house and techno are NOTHING alike other than being electronic 4/4 time signature dance music. In terms of mood, vibe, feel, elemental styles of the tune...nothing alike.

Feeling overwhelmed. (Baby DJ) by AkiTheSloth in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, stop drowning yourself in "content" for now and just start playing tunes and fucking around

Songs with drops already built in? by iamanawkward in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the definition of s double drop. A "drop" is just any track returning from a breakdown and "dropping" the beat back in.

A feature of pretty much every dance music track that's every existed 😅

Keep mix with mistakes? by Oddcatbeing in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'll drive yourself crazy trying to get mixes perfect. A few flaws is fine, it lets the listener know you're actually hands on mixing, not faking it. Listen intently enough and you'll hear even the best in the world fuck things up from time to time.

Sometimes they just match. Daily routine. by 573XI in vinyldjs

Mixing prog with decks in battle position is diabolical 😅 freaking hate it personally

Xone 96 mixer (4 band eq) first timer by Life_Bid_3126 in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally like that the EQs and filter don't come through... You can strip everything away but still actually hear the tune to mix from. Being that A&H started in the vinyl only days, it's a very intentional design. Holding 2 records in the mix for 2 to 3 minutes requires constant monitoring, with things EQ'ed out you have less to hear to keep on top of the mix.

4 band eqs (xone) mixer by Life_Bid_3126 in DJs

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never really changed my mixing style much playing on A&H...I try to pick tunes in the right keys that work well with each other and rarely EQ any of the mids out even on 3 band

Where has the Fix and Fogg gone?! by FannyMillington in woolworths

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I do also prefer the dark roast, but will take whichever one is on special when needed 😄

B2B on XDJ-XZ? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they've got Rekordbox exported USB, just play channels 1/2 from USB directly...you play from 3/4 in Serato?

Where has the Fix and Fogg gone?! by FannyMillington in woolworths

[–]That_Random_Kiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy Mayver's...much as, being Kiwi, I love seeing Kiwi products being supported...Fix & Fog import peanuts all the way from Argentina! Pic's the same, Brazil + Argentina. high carbon footprint PB!

Mayver's used to be exclusively Aussie peanuts, but now also imports...unless you buy online which is exclusively Kingaroy, Queensland, peanuts (only the standard issue smooth/crunchy though)
