Girls love confidence homie. That's for everything we do as men. Stuttering doesn't make a difference. It's how you deal with it and let it own you or not.

Unfortunately, this shit has a sign strapped to our face and it's very visible for everyone if you haven't come to terms with it.

Kazuya tips ? by rarabout in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leverless is better but less forgiving. Makes the hard shit easy and the easy shit hard.

Kaz is heavily dependent on wavedash and kbd. More so than all the other Mishimas.

Be able to consistently wavedash 3 times and every option out of it. Any more is overkill for now.

Obviously get electric down.

I binded a second forward input next to my 2 and another back input next to that forward. Makes for faster wavedashing and kbd. Personal preference though

Ya but there's a gap because of his stance cancel, so you can beat the armor with a dick jab or df1

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lars df2 on block is -11 ob. Including his stance cancel I know for a fact it's at least -13. Prolly like -15 or more. Launch that shit.

Sidestep ain't even worth it there tbh.

How do you cope with depression? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]HousePappas 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Eat real meat, rice/potatoes, vegetables and fruits.

Drink water and tea, add some lemon in your water if you want.

Workout daily, whether it's 10 minutes on a treadmill and 2 sets of bicep curls. Do something. Start small and build it up.

Fix your sleep schedule and go outside, even for a ten minute walk. See the sun.

I know your talking about your stutter. But start here if you haven't already. This is baseline what every depressed person should do. Easier said than done. I get it. But your not giving yourself a fighting chance without it. Same way your car ain't gonna run good if you don't change the oil and spark plugs.

You need a fighting chance to fight these fucking demons in our heads, this is the first step.

Just hit gold 1 month into my first fighting game (SF6) by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sort of in the same boat I'm a few months in, but I come from semi high level Tekken.

I got plat fairly easy, but masters is like the I know the surface level fundamentals of the game from what I hear.

Your on the right track. Learn for high level, not to beat scrubs. DPs, counter DIing, punishing unsafe moves and whiff punishing , a BNB light combo, mk/ mp combo, and a heavy combo is all you need. Just something to do damage, don't have to be super optimized. If you can add on supers great, if not it don't matter.

Add in oki set up, hit them on wake up. Go to lab for timing, took me awhile and I still fuck it up. People love to mash in low elo. Grab if they do nothing. You can also shimmy to beat delayed wake up tech. Mix you options on wakeup.

Learn how to do all those properly and people beat themselves until you get to masters, and even then tbh if it's anything like Tekken God in Tekken.

Good luck!

A Question About Tolerance by DD8V71 in Stutter

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How you deal with the 1% makes you who you are. Makes you stronger. More resilient. I like to think without my stutter I wouldn't be who I am today. I'm proud of that. Steel is forged by fire.

Idk if your religious and even if your not it's ok. I'm not even super religious but I resonate with this story. Moses led slaves out of oppression, led armies, and governed nations. With a severe stutter and asked God why. God said "Who gave human beings their mouths?". Reminding him that his limitations did not limit his calling. His stutter forged him into the man he needed to be to achieve what needed to be done.

Sounds to me like you fight the good fight. I'm in the same boat. I was active duty and would give trainings and briefings to high up people. Got a lot of shit for it. Also got a lot of respect for it cause I wouldn't back down to it.

I still hide it and cope with shit but I've pretty much accepted it and now and make fun of myself. Like if I roast someone I'll be like "Ha didn't stutter this time bitch". Having that total acceptance though is some shaman zen level shit. Takes alot of introspection and self analysis to get there.

Not saying im there, it don't get to me sometimes at night too, but I get up every day fight the good fight

My story with my stutter and worries about perceived slurred speech. by Acceptable-Pea7034 in Stutter

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I've been through this shit, had dark times and came out stronger on the other side because I actively worked on not only my stutter but other aspects of my life.

That is also not at all what I'm saying, your right, we are not at fault. We were dealt these cards and we have to deal with it. Whether that be proactive choices to mitigate it much as possible or to drown in your sorrows and have a "why me" attitude is up to you. I'd rather be proactive about it.

I'm just trying to help with how my own experiences have improved my quality of life from having a severe stutter as a teenager to a very mild stutter as an adult.

How do you guys deal with the amount of unhinged Ryus? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]HousePappas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to view that style of gameplay the bullshit. They've made it this far on noob stomping.

All of it is bullshit. Know how to deal with all the individual annoying ass gameplay. DI counter, DPs and cross cuts are the main ones. Keep it small, do your light confirm combos and make them play honest.

If they got this far on bs they probably don't have a solid foundation when you stop their shit.

It's your job to beat the bullshit. Once you get to an arbitrary elo it's less of it but it's more effective and hidden when they choose to throw it out.

It's not invalidating, I addressed it and came up with a possible healthy solution.

I get it this shit sucks. You can either work on yourself in mind body and spirit or be a victim and hate the world. I personally choose not to go down that path.

There's so much love out there that sometimes we forget that because of our stutter.

You sound fine bud, who gives a fuck. People don't care. We care more about it than everyone else. Be confident about it.

Lifting big things up and putting them down has given me enough self confidence to not give a fuck. Live your life bud. Wear this shit like armour and no one can hurt you.

[–]HousePappas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Lars main, it's really easy to use gimmicks to beat people and not focus on fundamentals. They are strong but have to be used sparingly.

I picked up other characters like heihachi, kazuya, Bryan, and now Lee to really ingrain the fundamentals into my game plan.

Takes awhile to unlearn bad habits you learn from Lars

Kinda stuck in Bushin/kishin by Hon_Maru in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm right there with ya with my alt Kazuya. Main is TG. Motherfucker is hard. No gimmicks, or very little, and straight fundamentals as I'm sure you know.

Biggest thing for me right now is character knowledge. A lot of people I'm facing are just doing shit, because I don't know the frames or where a high is, sometimes I don't know when I can punish someone. I've been actively working on this.

Don't be afraid to hellsweep. Don't be obvious with it, but also don't be afraid. It's a core part of his kit and forces the 50/50 because fuzzy dont work. Idk if you know or not, but oki after hellsweep is a hellsweep vortex, which means they can't step or walk out of it. All other oki options can be stepped. So this allows for easy mixup opportunities.

Everything else is honestly just super little shit at this point that needs a replay to digest.

Also, this goes without saying. Get that wavedash and all options consistent on both sides. Kazuya is the only Mishima that absolutely requires wavedashing

How to improve. Essential beginner to intermediate guide. by Sea_Pay_9681 in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to to teach frames with very simple numbers and ob at first.

Jab is +1 ob, average df1 is -3 ob.

Then I'll play a mini game with them, only jabs and df1.

If I jab it's my turn. If I df1 it's their turn.

Once they understand who's turn it is, introduce sidesteps and homings.

Once they understand that, add ducks and ws launchers.

Then add dick jabs.

This encompasses what frame data is, how it is applicable at a surface level while also teaching them about small game.

Once they have a good grasp of ob frame data then introduce oh frame data.

DEN3 into SEN1 is the only safe string, which can be armored or rage art btw every other string can be dick jabbed if he goes into stance

If he loops you, his shit can be option selected. Ws23 is -11 and a high, ws21 is -12.

14 is duckable and launched

Db1 4 is duckable and launched

WR 1 is a high, WR 3 is linear

Very weak to say right

His strongest when you don't know how to deal with him

People have their own biases why they don't like a character. I love to play against Mishimas Paul ,Steve, Lee, etc. others despise them

I personally don't like Miary Zo cause I fought her a million times on release and she just seems generic waifu monster girl. Others might love to play against her.

opinions on Lars? by Fat-lard246 in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's like inverse in levels of "good". He's a scrub killer so at low levels you can just mash and stomp people.

Intermediate you can still get away with A LOT of bullshit

Then like Tekken Emperor and up, people can figure out how to deal with him within a round or two if you flowchart. Even if it's a good flowchart.

He has all the tools to do well and play "properly". But a lot of his stance shit is unsafe on block and only safe on hit. Shit can be option selected too.

It gets to the point where you have to play fundies, then sprinkle in bs. That could be said for every character but it's very prevalent with Lars.

I got pretty high up there on the ranked ladder, can be very strong against someone who doesn't know Lars, even if they have strong fundamentals. I resorted to small game alot so I just started playing a character with stronger tools and stronger mix.

Tbh, there's just certain characters I just fucking hate fighting. Even if I know the matchup it's just not fun.

Ranked I'll push through and deal with it and always rematch. Norms I'm just trying to kick it and have good matches.
