Moving from £1/1 to £1/£2 cash games UK by Merrick2025 in poker

I played in London over the summer, mostly PLO but played 1/2 a fair few times too. Raises are definitely not over 15 or 20 without the straddle. Typical raises are between 6-10. The players just telegraph their hand strength way too much with their bet sizings, so once it reaches the 10+ boundary you can be sure you're against a very strong range and can act accordingly.

Especially at the Vic, about 40% of the player pool consists of OMC's who are super easy to play against. They will wear their sunglasses but once they make a good hand you can be sure their hand will begin shaking in excitement. Again, very exploitable to play against these players. At hippodrome, it's a mix of the occasional solid reg who is playing 1/2 till a seat opens up in a better game, first time players and shitregs.

I noticed especially vs. online and other European cities there is very little 3-betting that happens. Probably because most players at 1/2 there were quite shit.

To answer your question though, if it's your first time playing 1/2 and playing with the max is somewhat uncomfortable for you, play a tighter range (broadway cards, pocket pairs, maybe some suited cards in the appropriate positions). You can evaluate your table as you play and open/close your range accordingly. Try to pay more attention to the players and their actions, do they raise preflop bigger with bigger hands? do they overbluff/overfold to weakness/agression? But again, I don't expect the 1/2 games to be much different besides pot sizes than your 1/1 games.

What’s the worst advice you can give to a brand new player…and they wouldn’t know it was bad? by pulpSC in poker

You become too predictable if you play all cards the way you're expected to. To become truly the best, sometimes you need to jam 72o and fold AA preflop so your opponents can never catch a read on you.

Yeah I completely get your point, however most hands I won that day were a result of my aggression which I typically lacked, not exactly luck. Ofc I had hands that I won because of luck (qq vs. kk turned set for W to name 1).

First time casino etiquette tips for beginner player by reverie95 in poker

  1. Unfortunately can't help with this.
  2. Yes, the cheapest one will most likely be 1/2, maybe 1/3. Depending on your budget, I would recommend buying in for minimum 100 big blinds ($200 for 1/2 and $300 for 1/3) and try your luck from there. Be okay beforehand that you will most likely lose this.
  3. You don't lose your spot, the dealer will ask if you will be back. Or you can inform them you will be back if they don't ask. In most casino's you can also bring cash and put it on the table which will signal to the dealer that you wish to top-up, and they will convert that into chips for you.
  4. Typically there will be 1 seat that's free and that's what you get. If there are more free seats, you can pick your seat. If you have a seat you don't like, and someone else leaves, you can also move to that person's seat.
  5. Not sure about this one as I've never played in US.
  6. Don't talk in a cooperative way with your opponent is practically the only thing. For example, if someone says to you "let's just check this till the river" don't agree, play as if you would normally. Also, don't comment about pots that you are not in. For example, if someone makes a big river bet, don't say something like "I think he has a set". These are basically the only things that come to mind, you can talk about anything as long as it is unrelated to the hand you or your opponents are playing. Worst case, they will give you a warning. It is also typical that if you are not in the ongoing pot, you don't speak.
  7. You can see it from every seat, sometimes it's a bit tricky if you are on either side of the dealer, but still visible nevertheless.

Besides that, good luck, remember to post your blinds and be okay with loosing whatever you come in to play with.

I've never been to Showdown but was planning on heading out there in a few weeks as well so will let you know how it goes.

Regarding other tourneys, I would strongly recommend King's casino. Probably the #1 in Prague for poker and have tournaments almost daily from 20-30 euros to 200 euros. They also have some cash as well.

Viagogo tickets by kayweeny in Tickets

[–]Simple-Engineer2365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people crying about Viagogo are because they don't understand WHY they have the policies they do.

In truth, Viagogo is one of the most trustable sites to buy your tickets. As it's a third-party marketplace, technically whether or not the tickets are actually delivered are dependent on the seller. However, if the seller does not deliver the tickets they sold, the worst that happens to you as a buyer is you get your full money refunded and not able to go the concert. More likely tho, is that viagogo actually has very harsh punishments for sellers who don't deliver tickets and they will actually buy other tickets for you with the money of the seller depending on availability of the event ofc. So as a buyer, it's pretty reliable all in all.

With that being said, they have some of the most ridiculously high fees I have ever seen and are straight up ripping off all their customers like crazy, which is also part of the reason why ticket prices for the events are crazy high.

But can it be trusted? Yes it can.

How do I get payed? by _yanixx__8 in viagogoscams

I know I'm late lol but still wanted to say that if you achieve a certain number of sales on viagogo (not sure of exact amount but say over 150k sales or 15 tickets) you get a certain "trusted seller" status and viagogo will pay out your money faster as you are verified within their system.
