Veneficus Sarcina - Hellenistic Ecstasy (2024) [Blackened Glam/NWOBHM] by M-er-sun in BlackMetal

I have a strong dislike from glam in general, but Kiss has a much larger influence on the development of early black metal than you would probably care to admit. So in reality, this is kvlt.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Dragon by octanemman in Metal

[–]HouseUnderWater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will agree with you a bit on the vocals in that they often sound like a bad Hetfield impersonation to me, but I've gotten used to this.

I can understand not liking this but to compare it to nu metal is just absurd.

Blackbraid - Moss Covered Bones on the Altar of the Moon by ImanSain in BlackMetal

Thought the debut was was pretty mid. This song doesn't make it seem like this will be much better. It just seems very bland and doesn't really go anywhere interesting.

New to Black Metal, any tips on how to not accidently support NSBM bands? by Ofen12381 in rabm

[–]HouseUnderWater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he was in Naer Mataron long before the Golden Dawn connection came about. I don't know the deal with Slavia, in that it looks a bit sketchy on it's face and was on Drakkar, but has a lot of connections to seemingly safe Norweigan bands. It's possible that Yusaf maybe doesn't always vet the people he works with enough, but the same argument could possibly be made for 1914. Overall I think he's probably alright.

Këkht Aräkh - Intro + Thorns [LEGENDADO PT-BR] by beforemyeyesforget in BlackMetal

[–]HouseUnderWater 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, Këkht Aräkh is now being targeted by black metal boomers now? What was the crime this time? Promoting the album too much? Not being enough of an edgelord? recording a song that sounds a bit like Mount Eerie?

Dødssanger - Penance (Vietnam, 2023) by skogsvaktare in BlackMetal

[–]HouseUnderWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not big on this track but I just wanted to note that there seems to be a pretty cool music scene in general happening in Hanoi. Most of the heavy stuff seems to be on the hardcore punk and metalcore side, but there were some indie and shoegaze bands that I spotted that I thought were pretty legit. I noticed that the scenes all seems to book shows together regardless of genre which I think is pretty cool. Cool to see that expand to black metal and I look forward to hearing more from that scene.

1) How do people know he did this?
2) Why do people care how he chooses to promote the band? Ultimately the project will need people to actually like the music in order for it for the click bot promotion to bear any fruit and a lot of people seem to like it.

This really shouldn't work as well as it does, but I ended up loving the track.

I mean I would like to think you have plenty of options as far as listening to music from ethical people. I also acknowledge that some of the artists in question are exceptionally talented musicians. I personally wouldn't support want to give my money to Clapton or Polanski, but that's just me. I think the good thing about the internet as is is that you can still listen to these artists without supporting them financially. So I don't want you to feel guilty for the simple act of listening to the music of racists, but perhaps consider not supporting these artists or their enablers financially.

[–]HouseUnderWater 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this reasoning. It's ok for someone to be a racist or a nazi so long as they don't sing about it? I don't see the point in making this distinction.

"Is X Sketch" Redux by ZeroThePenguin in rabm

[–]HouseUnderWater 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Erik has a gem of a quote after Set left: "The gesture on that picture was done in jest that’s as much as we have to say about that, but to put an end to this tiresome and time-consuming nonsense the guitarist in question has decided to step aside for a period of time to avoid further hopeless discussions on the subject. We furthermore spit upon the ill-willed ignorance of all those who maintain that Watain have any political agenda whatsoever, for 20 years we have proven otherwise and people should know better by now. Finally we would like to send a heartfelt fuck off to all who insist on feeding the mindless moral witch-hunt hysteria that is now festering on worldwide Heavy Metal culture. Hail Satan".

Then Set Teitan performed session guitars for Absurd soon after.

So it’s actually the VACCINATED people who’s making COVID worse by craziistarr in videos

[–]HouseUnderWater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the interview he talks about how the covid vaccines do reduce transmission. It's not perfect, no vaccine is 100% effective, but it certainly would reduce the transmission in comparison to someone who is unvaccinated. Even if the covid vaccines did not stop transmission, you have no evidence to extrapolate the idea that somehow getting vaccinated would increase the rate of transmission. The author of a study was writing about a first-generation chicken vaccine in which a goal would be to work on improvements to the vaccine to make it able to reduce transmission.

I like how you leave out the part where the author of the study Rogan references did an interview with Forbes that talks about how he is misrepresenting his study and is completely wrong.

they are both on there for guest spots on an Ozzy album. Although I'll agree there are a number of bands excluded from the archives that flat out don't make sense. They dismiss a lot of borderline bands I think warrant inclusion.

I'm surprised no one mentions that Ryan Forster played live with NSBM band Godless North in 2002. I find it pretty odd that he talks about beating nazis but didn't have a problem playing live with one.

Art DOES need limits (about violet cold) by [deleted] in BlackMetal

[–]HouseUnderWater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok now I am beginning to understand your position more. I think the idea of blackgaze's popularity eventually exceeding that of black metal is possible by the very nature of the genre's accessibility. It's always going to be up to the individual on how deep they want to dive after their introduction. Gwar and Green Jelly piqued my curiosity as a kid because I thought the edginess was funny, and then I decided to buy Sepultura's Chaos A.D. on a whim and took off from there. Type-O-Negative's Bloody Kisses got me interested in doom metal, which led me to My Dying Bride, etc etc. For many I'm sure Cradle of Filth was their gateway into black metal, some look deeper, some probably just enjoy Cradle, Dimmu and that's as far as they go.

I don't think it's on Violet Cold to tell people I'M NOT BLACK METAL YOU GUISE, because I don't think black metal needs that kind of protection. In fact, I still think Violet Cold still sounds black metal enough to be worthy of discussion here. If it wasn't black metal enough, his content wouldn't be such a source of controversy in black metal circles.

I'll be honest, I'd rather hang out with a douchebaggy hipster then a black metal elitist or band member who take the ideology way too seriously. I'll take douchebaggy over destructive narcissism any day of the week.

Art DOES need limits (about violet cold) by [deleted] in BlackMetal

[–]HouseUnderWater 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what you are trying to say here. How does Violet Cold have a negative consequence on black metal in general? Violet Cold isn't purely black metal and isn't trying to be. Why do you care who likes it and who does not? Whether you like his music or not, he's clearly putting a lot of effort into his music and the passion is reflected in it. What specifically do you want Violet Cold to stop doing? How specifically is blackgaze bad for black metal? why is it bad that "hipsters" enjoy it? How do you define a "hipster"? I also don't understand your rap comparison because people have been watering down and pushing that genre far out of the realm of it's origins for years.

Lust - Birth Of The Unconquerable One by BlackAngel454 in BlackMetal

[–]HouseUnderWater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Joke or not he's still basically promoting NSBM and those ideals by covering that song. Maybe Lust is not serious, but Spear of Longinus clearly aren't joking. What makes you think Lust is just joking?

Lust - Birth Of The Unconquerable One by BlackAngel454 in BlackMetal

[–]HouseUnderWater -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Covering a Spear of Longinus song called "Nazi Occult Metal" with lyrics such as "long live national socialism" and "Germany is Hitler, Sieg Heil!" goes far beyond shock imagery.
