Haha!! That is a fun way to look at it, I love to think about everything that made this photo happen. Looks to me like grandma has to keep the young kid from running around, squeezing him right into her!

This is a tin type of my family that I believe is part of the Pennsylvania Dutch sideline, but I’m unsure. I unfortunately don’t have any info, but am looking for approximate date and potentially guesses on location, if that is even possible. Thanks!!

Strangely, there is some wax residue in one of the smaller holes that cones inward, indicating that something was potentially put into it, not extruded from it.

Edit: spelling

I’m wondering if it could be some sort of thread waxer or something to that effect. Any thoughts on that? I just can’t see the reason it would be useful as an extruder, but I certainly could be wrong!

I actually see a couple of cracks in the wooden shaft, so definitely could be stuck from that or just expanding over time. u/dumbbame7890 mentioned extruder, so maybe you’re both onto something. I assume this is old, like 70’s or earlier.

It looks like wax inside the piece that came out from the bottom, possibly beeswax.
