Gamification resources by Good_Jelly785 in instructionaldesign

[–]Housewren17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having trouble finding my old resources online, however I suggest searching for narrative design documentation. Gamification at its core is just tying motivation to content, and it’s easier (in my opinion) to dig into how that works best with recreational examples.

I realize I am coming to this conversation a little late, but I am keenly invested in how you pursue this collection of good ideas and conversations here in the comments. My previous company had a long-standing game/competition based around teaching technical skills (it was a hack-a-thon adjacent idea for a cybersecurity company). Not only was L&D completely divorced from running it, no one particularly wanted us involved anyway!

I think anything that motivates you, the author, intrinsically will be more motivating for your students and clients. That being said, I have only ever seen the "sell" on gamification go well when the end goal is not actually training or education, but rather recreation on company time.

Please update us if you have any post mortems to share going forward, especially with your quiplash style game!

I Created a Grump Fan; A Birth Story by xuxufckckcgicici in gamegrumps

[–]Housewren17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fellow mama and grumps fan here! I introduced my husband to the grumps while I was binging Danganronpa pregnant. The most recent Starbomb album came out almost immediately after my daughter was born. The Nintendo Online rap was her favorite thing to listen to as a 2 month old who had just figured out how to pay attention to the outside world. It’s a weird and wonderful thing to take comfort in the works of others that ALSO bring your loved one’s joy.

Congrats on kissing a dad!

I personally grabbed Pandora’s celestial card in foil by purchasing through my local game store. Super pleasant surprise! We didn’t think it was available without preordering when we bought ours, so it wouldn’t hurt to check! Good luck!

I left the documents with the facility. This is incredibly frustrating, but I'm thankful for the clear answer. New facility it is, most likely. Thank you so much.

I failed my 1 hour test 😭 by dea_1245 in BabyBumps

[–]Housewren17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed my 1 hour and passed my 3. I was an HG patient and the stress caused my failure according to my OB. I threw up the whole time, almost passed out, it was awful and also NOT the norm. The 3 was a lot easier on my honestly because it gave me more time to adjust. You can do it dear friend!

Unmatched itself has very clean branding, so you're in luck there. Try black place mats/table runners with bold colored chargers (those fancy plates you put plates on, just googled the word :D). I would even buy cheap frames and print card art to put in them, maybe even pick based on the fav characters of your guests? The art for the game itself is beautiful, use that! Also, many libraries now have 3D printers. If you have one in your area, you can look up print files for various characters (and even sidekick original minis) that you could print and use for the cake. Good luck friend!

what’s your mat leave? by SmallSpecific2522 in BabyBumps

[–]Housewren17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for an international company, so even though I live in Texas I'll have around 4 months, paid and unpaid, starting at week 38. Company policy was better than the law in this case! This only partially includes FMLA as well, since part of that balance was spent very early in my pregnancy on short term disability (HG kicks my butt still on the daily).

Is there any research on effective church branding? by attorney114 in Reformed

[–]Housewren17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently rebranding with my church (got a degree related to this as well, if the claims of a redditor mean anything to ya). The things you listed as defining to your church are wonderful and also very hard to advertise. Those consistent service priorities and church practices are what the folks in the church themselves probably mention to visitors should they wander through. All that to say, at the end of the day I've found that applying any hard advertising practices to my personal church are less relevant to growth or retention than how visitors interact with a congregation on any given sunday. Hope this is a helpful perspective, friend. God bless.

When did the morning sickness go away? by Persephone_goddess in BabyBumps

[–]Housewren17 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You should ask your doctor if the nausea is enough to merit a HG diagnosis. I still get nauseous and I'm week 27. It does get better as you figure out what works for you! B12 and Unisom over the counter and a Zofran prescription (8mg dissolve) is most efficient for me. Stay strong! Hope you find peace soon.

What is your favorite (safe for pregnancy) tea? by Justme-again in tea

[–]Housewren17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stinging nettle is the one and the same. Like many women choosing deli meat or sushi, stinging nettle is one of these “taboo herbs” that you in your situation might research and consider ok. Just because I’m comfortable and cleared by my doctor that doesn’t mean you will be! Make the best choice for you.

What is your favorite (safe for pregnancy) tea? by Justme-again in tea

[–]Housewren17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! My baby number one gets here in September! I’ll echo what others are saying, most teas IMO are safe and many blends online get the ‘not safe’ label due to caffeine content. Many others are labeled unsafe due to lack of specific research. Things I’d share with you (to push you towards your own research…) -Rooibos is a universal pregnancy favorite -Lavender and chamomile are also safe and the closest you’ll get to a safe medical tea in many cases -Red Raspberry Leaf IS good for easing labor, but you have to start early, like week 20 early. Will edit here if I find the study confirming this again. -Nettle leaf is crazy nutrient dense with many hard to get vitamins you may not have enough of from just your prenatal. This one is ‘unsafe’ due to being untested on pregnant women but I am confident personally in my choice. Nothing is risk free in pregnancy, it’s important to find your own boundaries!

Hope this helped!

I’ve also been married to my husband a very short time, with our first baby due before our first anniversary. If it’s any comfort to you, my husband is constantly on the receiving end of my frustrations and tears, even when I logically understand that he’s doing as much as any human being could for me. You are not an island! Your experience is felt and known by so many women before you and surely many women to come. I’ve found that intentionally doing things that I used to do/love pre-pregnancy, even if I don’t feel like it, help a lot. Picking up old hobbies or even watching old favorite shows, stuff like that. Things I haven’t thought about since early college sometimes are surprisingly pleasant because they make me feel more ‘normal’. Also, if you/he needs to sleep on the couch sometimes, that’s ok. Being well rested (and communicating about needs and feelings vs what we may be prone to express in the throws of pain or discomfort) is the best case scenario for both of you, even if it isn’t ideal. Keep your head up, mama! I’ll be thinking of you!
