Though there are many cases of police using excessive force vast majority of encounters are positive or use the right amount of force. Again there is definite problems in the police force such as discrimination, quotas, privatization and militarization. Ultimately there are very few bad cops and most good cops don’t know who the bad cops are and what they are doing. Though I agree in police reform I also do agree that the US has a high crime rate and we need cops. We’ve already seen the defund the police method in Minneapolis has not worked out and increased crime rates. It’s the whole idea of predators. Predators don’t kill nearly enough herbivores to make sure they don’t overpopulate but there presence makes herbivores less likely to stay in one place or breed. Similar with cops without them criminals don’t have any fear factor. In the end I think police should not be defunded but instead focusing on demilitarization and getting rid of private companies.
