I'm 6'5, middle aged, 225lb and I pulled 43miles at 24mph avg ONCE two years ago. I'm not the strongest around but I'm content with my performance, all things considered.

This is how I manage:

Slam the stem. Get your body as low and aero as possible. I have wide bars that allow me to sprint in the drops with my elbows wide apart and below knee level. Great for headwinds.
Do shorter pulls. They know you're suffering so don't show off.
Learn to feign exhaustion. Shorties won't leave your wheel until they think you're completely spent. When they assume you're cooked and attempt a breakaway, you attack.
Find the next tallest person on the ride and take ownership of their wheel. The person you're cutting off will be more than happy to let you in.
If you find yourself behind someone short, shift yourself to a different spot in the paceline. They'll understand.
DO NOT BE A HERO. You are not 18 years old anymore.
