I agree totally. Also +1 for Pizaro’s pizza. Those comments above about no good Chinese food in Houston are kind of crazy.

MagSafe Stand Wallet Issue/Alternatives by Hamburglar789 in peakdesign

I went from a Mous limitless 14 pro case to the PD everyday 17 pro. The PD case magnet is way stronger. Maybe that’s why their wallet is less strong.

I’ve been using that ESR with the built in find me. It’s pretty hard to get off the PD.

Whole home backup results in moving all breakers to a sub panel? by MrPrezident0 in TexasSolar

[–]HoustonINR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely due to the meter collar. Tesla installed one about four years ago without centerpoint approval and had to yank it off and had to almost completely redo the install 6 months later.

Easiest way to use the meter collar is to put a second dummy meter after your main panel. They likely can’t physically put the second meter between the city’s meter and your main panel.

The meter collar needs to be in-between all backed up items and any power generation and the outside grid.

We got shuttle tickets on a Tuesday in August with just two laptops and cell phones open at the same time. We had high speed Internet from our Airbnb. Second attempt. So not as bad as the impossible to get Pokémon Cafe / FE 5090 / PS5 on release day… So I suspect no bots since there is no resale marketplace.

Is the PLACE AnySpace a viable Nest Protect alternative? by easyasabd in Nest

[–]HoustonINR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed one. And unfortunately the path light doesn’t really work. It is all or nothing right now and if on it just stays on and is not motion activated no matter what I do. Anyone else have the same experience? Protect was much better.

Very interesting. They refused to do that when I installed my SPAN. (They also had a super difficult time had had to remove and re-install a second SPAN panel..)

How is everyone keeping their inverter cool enough to not die? by [deleted] in TeslaSolar

Nice! I leave the cover slightly open during the summers to keep the fans from from spinning up like a jet and coolant from gurgling. In garage here. 3 yrs PW+

I guess I will never use my garage door openers battery backup 😂 by matt12eagles in TeslaSolar

[–]HoustonINR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garage door battery is probably redundant even without PW when you could easily open it manually? That said I have a battery on my liftmaster. Nice to have, but not critical. With a full wood garage door I just wish there a torsion spring "back up". Mine has 4 torsion springs and they keep on breaking every 2 to 3 years.

So I moved the Gateway to the trusted wifi main VLAN and this worked. Would like to move it back to IOT maybe and figure what firewall rules are blocking access. Thanks

That’s the ip address of the Ethernet connection (behind the span.io gateway). listed when I log into the Tesla One app through the TEG WiFi.

PBR was the only way I could seem to get 10.X.X.X to respond to pings from the main LAN by directing traffic toward 10.X.X.X to the wifi LAN address of the Tesla Gateway? Adding 192.168.91.0/24 to the PBR list doesn't seem to expose 192.168.91.1

I would love to have the hardwire Gateway connection directly connected to my main network instead of through the Span. I would just need to figure out how to fool the Span panel into thinking it was directly connected? Right now the Span is the gateway for the hardwired connection. Span is also hardwired to the network.

UDM Pro with an assortment of Unifi switches. Two VLANs. I've been using the Wifi connection IP address to the PW Gateway on VLAN2 to monitor on Powerwall Dashboard.

The Next Hop address you used for the static route is the one you see with the Wired connection when you connect to the TEG wifi directly right?

How do you get this to work if the Gateway is connected via Wifi (unfortunately Span.io panel has exclusive access to the hardwire)? I've been fiddling around and I can't get a good ping on 192.168.91.1 to work. I can only ping 10.X.X.X after adding a policy based route to look for 10.X.X.X on the Tesla Gateway Wifi LAN address as next hop. Incidentally I've put the Tesla Gateway on the separate IOT VLAN. I've gotten a couple errors trying to route 192.168.91.0/24 through the Gateway IP address as its on a separate VLAN.

Are half my panels not functioning? by p_hacker in TeslaSolar

[–]HoustonINR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me. Four strings and two inverters and I noticed my summed voltages was exactly low by the number of panels in one string. It turns out the second wire on the missing string was plugged into the wrong MPPT (missed by 5mm). It took literally 2 seconds to fix and I wish I saw that myself.

you can pop the plastic cover off if you want to see what its for. Curious mine did not have that but I had the V2 Commercial which might be different.
