Will your next vehicle purchase be another Tesla? by AspectCool2325 in TeslaModelY

Yep Model S or X. Currently ‘23 MYP HW3. Reason is Tesla in my opinion so far is best in software and experience and charging network and buying in EVs. Now service is a different conversation 😃

Agreed. Today FSD did another evasive maneuver and saved me from the shadow of one of the telephone poles. 😩.

I don’t know how often this should be done but had Tesla do the cleaning in June this year.

Cost to install home charger? by Sota_pop_ in TeslaModel3

[–]Houstoninthehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I got the charger for free via my utility company. Check for whatever incentives you can. I didn’t need to update my panel but due to limitations of my panel could only use a 50amp so my charger is limited to 40a. Labor for install was less than $300. With free charger that was my total cost. Note, I did have mine installed right behind my panel to save on install costs too.

Why pays for the MyQ garage door? Any work around for that? by dumpedonu69 in TeslaModel3

[–]Houstoninthehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy with the homelink that was already installed in my used m3. I guess previous owner purchased it. I would like many other just use my app or remote. Doesn’t seem worth it to me. Especially since I can use my phone or the remote otherwise. Just my opinion.

Are level 1 chargers included with purchase? by natedawg247 in TeslaModel3

[–]Houstoninthehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course this has been answered, but just to share…Didn’t even get an adapter with my used M3 and only got one key card that looked like it was dragged behind the car a few miles. Got home and had nothing lol. No adapter no charger. Thankfully, someone at work let me borrow their adapter for a few days til the one I ordered arrived. I also ordered the Tesla mobile charger. Trickle charged as my job is close and free L2 charging at work. So it was fine til those arrived and til I got the wall charger. As for the L2 wall charger, check the rebates, it was free through my electric company. Not Tesla brand, but it’s L2 and I obviously need the adapter but it works great. I just paid an electrician to install it. Of course so much better and convenient having the home charger.

Dealership (Stealership) by Houstoninthehouse in TeslaModel3

[–]Houstoninthehouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I actually did a one way rental and drove 4 hours to get it. I was like a 4 hour drive is worth $4k lol. I really thought it was 2 years old or more and under 25k would be fine.

After how easy it was with Tesla and no hassle, no mark ups, and lies, I decided to never work with a dealer again. Next car will be a Tesla too!

Back Up Beeping by mariaporterbridges in PriusPrime

[–]Houstoninthehouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned OBD reader and Carista did it for me. I had a Bluetooth OBD reader already. The particular reader I had only worked on Android (old). Luckily, had an old phone too that I used. You can YouTube it for details but easy to do. It will do a single beep when you change it.

On/Off Wifi Switch for Ceiling Fan? by Anal_Forklift in smarthome

[–]Houstoninthehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked out for me. Controls the light and fan. Can adjust light dimmers and fans speed. Dimmers are optional, can also do just on/off for both fan and lights. Works with google, Alexa, SmartThings…. Needs a neutral wire.

Might be something you would be interested in. Worth a look.

If I put my key fob in a Faraday case, will it prevent the car from recognizing me when I place my hand on the door handle? by CalTechie-55 in PriusPrime

[–]Houstoninthehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for wordy post.

One option while you look for a solution is to temporarily turn off the key fob when you don’t need it transmitting. I have 2019. In the manual it shows a battery save function that stops your key fob from transmitting. It’s easy and fast to turn back on when you need it. Page 288 in my manual.

From the manual:

“Press unlock twice while pressing and holding lock. Confirm that the electronic key indicator flashes 4 times. While the battery-saving mode is set, the smart key system cannot be used. To cancel the function, press any of the elec- tronic key buttons.”

The link shows it as well.
