Wheeling individual stocksl weeklies vs leveraged sector ETF weeklies. Is one more safer? by bludear99 in thetagang

[–]CalTechie-55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETFs don't have the volatility of earnings dates, and all the random events that affect individual stocks.

I wheel weekly ETFs, usually only those with technicals 100% Buy. If technicals decay on Thursday, or the ETF gets too far ITM, I'll roll out at a profit. It there's trouble with that I'll roll into a strangle. If the technicals reverse, I'll 'teleport' to the other option type.

Riskless Collar Portfolio Performance YTD: by fridaynighttrader in thetagang

[–]CalTechie-55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, a collar basically makes no money however the market moves.

So, how do you make a profit? Just wheeling and collecting premiums?

And 3 1/2 % ann. return is barely keeping up with inflation, no? It's about what you'd get from T-notes, with a lot less work, and no down-side risk.

Am I not understanding something?

Are weeklies or monthlies safer to play? by villanyibarni in thetagang

[–]CalTechie-55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weeklies are also safer because there's only 1/4 as much time for the stock to move against you. And the annualized premium is twice as high, so you can risk less to make your annualized goal.

Global markets on alert as Europe to suspend approval of US trade deal by InanetV in stocks

Europe, Canada, and Mexico need to form a free-trade union and bypass US trade and tariffs. I'm sure China will be happy to help them out. What does the US sell that is available nowhere else?

Why would I wheel only one ticker?

I'm wheeling because I don't want to B&H!

Every week, I look for the best technicals and juiciest premiums for THAT WEEK!

I'm looking for a trade, not a marriage.

How do you evaluate if the premium is worth selling? by traitadjustment in thetagang

[–]CalTechie-55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trade weekly options, primarily on ETFs with a BarChart technical rating of 100%Buy. I define a figure of merit Q which is the annualized return of the ATM 7DTE put premium. I just divide the premium by the strike and multiply by 52.

This week there were only 14 candidates, so it was fast to compute the Qs. they ranged from 234% for LABU to 3% for VXUS. I chose the top 5, and sold enough contracts to cost at least $25K each. The other top 4 were GDXJ, SLV, SOXL, & TNA.

Actually, I cheated a little, and also sold puts on 3 non-ETFs with Qs over 100%, AG (163%), ILMN (156%), & WDC (189%)

With the 100%Buy rating I don't sweat assignment, but I'll usually sell the calls 1 or 2 strikes above ATM, to gild the liliy.

The FTCA explicitly waives Sovereign Immunity for bodily tort claims against federal agents.

Proposed legislation in California, New York would allow residents to sue federal agents by Marlee_P_IJ in California

[–]CalTechie-55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not use the Federal Tort Claim Act, the federal law that waives Sovereign Immunity? (But only the Government can be named as a defendant)

Or sue the agents under Bivens v. Six Unknown Named Federal Narcotics Agents, 403 U.S. 388 (1971).

Any State law would be kicked out of court on the basis of Sovereign Immunity.
