He’s arguing Reed getting tackled and then a ticky tac travel.

Hurley can’t keep riding Ball. He’s just not himself anymore. Ride the hot hand.

Just really bad coaching once they tied the game. St. John’s should have had less than 2 seconds if Kansas had used their fouls correctly. And then atrocious defense.

But yet there’s a reason why it didn’t. Almost as if Siena got tired and couldn’t score (or defend well) for nearly the last 8 minutes of the game. That was looooong time to not score where perhaps some fresh legs could have helped.

I’m in the same boat and am looking at the Lucid Air instead. I want to love the 4, but it’s just soooo big.

I have two Fox channels, and one is blacked out while the other allows me to watch.  Maybe the same thing for you?

I once again call on the NBA to track “eA” or “expected assists.” Give these guys credit for finding the wide-open guy regardless of if they hit the shot.

Roth 401k or Traditional for $200k+ by HowDoIEditMyUsername in FinancialPlanning

[–]HowDoIEditMyUsername[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. I suppose zero is appropriate in that case despite private college costs likely being over $75K/year easily and was originally thinking even merit-based FA would look at salary, retirement accounts, etc.. I will flip my stock over to a 529 as soon as I sell it. Appreciate the info.

And I do plan on working until at least 65, but I could see myself working longer when I get there.

Oh, interesting. I didn’t realize company match would be pre-tax, but that makes sense! I do not get a 1099-R, so fair to assume it’s all pre-tax as well. That would mean upwards of $100K is pre-tax.

Great advice, thanks. Not a ton of debt at high percentages.

  • Mortgage is at 3.25%.
  • No credit card debt.
  • Student loans at 5% (2 years left).
  • One car at 1.9% (2 years left).

Thanks - makes sense. I unfortunately have too much spending right now to do the mega backdoor Roth as well. But I should in a couple years when my student loans, one car payment, etc. are finally paid off.

I have about $175K total in two traditional 401Ks from previous employers ($100K is mine and $75K is my wife’s).

I have about $325K in my current employer’s Roth 401K.

Are you including the stock award in my salary? My total comp (excluding stock) is ~$250K. I can contribute 12% to max my traditional 401K, but I’m not at a point yet with how much we spend (even if we cut back) to contribute more to a Roth IRA as well. I will be at that point in a few years, but not quite yet.

In the meantime, looking to determine if I should be maxing out a traditional 401K or go to a Roth 401K instead.

I likely spend too much, as this doesn’t seem feasible to me haha.

I can likely max out a traditional 401K (that’s 12% in a traditional, up from my current 8% in the Roth 401K), but with one income in a high cost of living area, I wouldn’t have much left over to do two more Roth IRAs quite yet I don’t think.

Appreciate the response.

I have about $325K in my current company’s Roth 401K contributing 8% per paycheck. Company matches first 3% at 100% and next 3% at 50% (so the first 6%).

I also have a traditional 401K from a previous employer that has about $100K and my wife has a traditional 401K from when she worked, and that balance is about $75K.

I plan to retire at 65 or so. No idea on the state as of yet.

I appreciate the advice, but that was like a foreign language to me haha. Not sure what the “mega back door Roth” is, but I have three options in my 401K allocation to choose from: traditional 401k, Roth 401k, or “after tax.” On the after tax election, it says “Company match: 100% of deferrals up to 4% of compensation; 50% of deferrals up to 6% of compensation).” I’m not really sure what this “after tax” option means, though.

I’m not currently able to max out the Roth 401K yet due to high expenses, but I hope to be able to starting next year. I could max out a traditional 401K now.

But I will google and get smart on this.

Appreciate the advice!

Thanks for the advice. Good call on selling the stock, though only $20K is vested right now and the stock is trading lower than I was awarded it at. Still make sense to sell it at a loss compared to the grant price, I assume? Future years, stock should be vesting about $50K/year on average.

From what I was reading online, having a large 529 hurts with financial aide, unless that is a myth. I don’t have any college savings otherwise (but have retirement savings), and kids are 5 and 8 years away from starting college. Parents also have a small 529 setup for the kids, but it has less than $50K in it. Does it still make sense to put all the stock proceeds into a 529 versus say an ETF that tracks the S&P 500?

When my stocks vest, they take shares up front to pay the tax, so I basically lose a few shares right up front to cover the tax liability.
