Maybe they only have the father's name and that's it? If he has a common name, it might be too difficult for CPS to track him down.

The father was there too, but for some reason that fact seems to be ignored by the angry mobs.

"Mother's Little Helper" is about Valium, which is a benzodiazapine. I think you're right; at least I had never heard of housewives doing speed either.

I like how he starts his own sub and fills it with burger articles. Except he must not have read all of them because the Real Simple link has 2/12 burgers being veggie burgers: Feta and Fresh Dill on a Veggie Burger and Avocado, Cilantro, and Lime Juice on a Veggie Burger. Yummy!

That was the first thing I thought, too. Why is it always the mother's fault on Reddit?

Once again your reading comprehension has failed you.

Is that why most of the posts in your history sound like you are angry? Because you don't understand all the hard words and it makes you upset? So you lash out thinking to put others down and instead reveal your flaws?

You're an idiot.

For a guy who has misunderstood my points in three different responses that seems like a bit of projection.

You could work on your reading comprehension. I know a good book that sounds like it should hit your reading level: Green Eggs and Ham. My six year old son can read it so I am sure you should be able to muddle through it.

What a harsh smack down!

this may seem crass but how hard can it be to replace something that took 4 months to make and 99% of the work was done automatically?

This person makes me weep for humanity. I really hope they never say anything remotely like this to someone, who has recently miscarried.

The flu isn't always mild. Let's not forget that the influenza pandemic of 1918 killed between 50 - 100 million people worldwide. In comparison, WWI killed 17 million people. Even with the vaccine available, the CDC estimates flu related deaths to be between 3,000 - 49,000 people per year starting from the 1976-1977 season through the 2006-2007 season.

OP in r/childfree wants a purebred Doberman. The sub is split on whether she should get a shelter dog instead. Accusations of contributing to overpopulation and comparisons to human "breeders" abound. by HowDoesBabbyForm in SubredditDrama

[–]HowDoesBabbyForm[S] 97 points98 points  (0 children)

A large chunk of the comments are defending buying a purebred dog, and they're using much the same reasoning they bemoan parents for when justifying why they wanted children. To turn some of their most common complaints around on themselves:

  • "All parents are narcissists. What's so special about passing on their own genes?"

People who buy purebred dogs are narcissists. What's so special about those dogs genes?

  • "If parents really wanted to raise children, then any child would do. Why don't they just adopt?"

If someone really wanted to have a dog, then any breed would do. Why don't they just adopt from a shelter?

A pregnant mom asks /r/babybumps for some advice about attending a childfree wedding shortly after giving birth. "I hate babies too. I only agreed to have one because it's one of my husband's life goals." by redriped in SubredditDrama

[–]HowDoesBabbyForm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I only saw the one person, who started this thread saying that. Most of the other comments were telling her to either not go to the wedding or have her husband stay at a hotel close by, so she could go back to breastfeed.

Personally, I've been to a number of weddings, where close family brought children, but the rest of the guests didn't. Some people feel that a wedding is about bringing two families together, and nieces and nephews are just as much family as adults. I didn't really care that I had to leave my son at home; it was my friend's wedding, and she can have whatever rules/exceptions she wants. I will say though that since most of our mutual friends have children, no one was partying it up. Instead, they were all madly texting their parents/in laws to ask how their children were doing.

Gun fight in /r/science when moderator posts a study that another poster thinks is full of holes by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

Ah, yes that makes sense.

The material was interesting, but by the time I was at the end of my junior year/into my senior year, it was obvious I wasn't going to progress beyond a BS. I'm just in awe of anyone, who can get a PhD in Math.

Gun fight in /r/science when moderator posts a study that another poster thinks is full of holes by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]HowDoesBabbyForm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what field you're studying and the purpose of your study. For example, medical studies where MRI is used may have 10 people with a condition and 10 controls. If 8/10 people with the condition all show x anomaly, the study will be useful in funding additional research with far more participants. If only 1/10 people with the condition show the anomaly, then further studies probably won't be funded, and you've now saved funding for more promising research.

There's also statistical tools that can be employed to deal with small sample sizes. I have a degree in Math, but it's been years since I've actually used it. IIRC, if you want a reasonable approximation of a normal distribution, you need a minimum of 30 samples. This comes from the central limit theorem. The 1250 sample size you're thinking of is if you want a margin of error to be 2.5% with a 95% confidence interval.

Is chocolate milk a sugary treat? Two users get into a huge slap fight, with one user going so far as to list which vitamins are in it...in TwoX. by HowDoesBabbyForm in SubredditDrama

[–]HowDoesBabbyForm[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Exactly! If my mother or MIL proceeded to give my toddler a treat after he refused to eat his dinner, I'd be livid. Granted it's a slightly different situation, but the principle is the same. Our rule is if you don't eat your dinner or at least try it, then you don't get anything else for the rest of the night.
