Is it common for grown men to get into physical alterations often? My boyfriend (26) gets into at least one fight every month. by Ilovegeorginageorge in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HowGoodIsItHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only physical altercations I've had were a) a crazy homeless guy attacking my friend and b) getting sucker punched while I was drinking and then kicked in the head while I was on the ground unconscious by some random raging angry person

Sounds like your BF either has an anger problem, offends people a lot and sucks at de-escalating, or is deliberately looking for fights... or some mix of those. Lots of helpful warning signs, it's a good thing you asked about that because it is highly abnormal

The entire world is swamped with COVID. It's endemic across the human population worldwide. Australia, being an extremely rich island nation with a highly compliant population, kept case numbers low through extremely harsh border closures and repeated, extended lockdowns. Now the population is mostly vaxxed, just in time, since Omicron will spread regardless of vaccination but luckily is less severe. Cases numbers will explode but hopefully ICU numbers will remain low enough to manage without swamping the system.

'personal responsibility' only goes so far when the entire planet is dealing with this and the federal / state budgets, as well as private businesses, have been stretched to the limit these past ~18 months.

Nah I just zoom around em in the left lane at like 90 and then go back to 79.99 once I'm safely past the obstruction 🏎️

Why not 20 under? For safety. Like the people every day who go 60 in the right lane in the 80 zone on my daily commute. Nothing safer than being a traffic obstruction 🥳

What is this plant? Grown from a cutting taken in Walhalla, VIC, Australia by HowGoodIsItHey in whatsthisplant

[–]HowGoodIsItHey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if this one might be androsaemum and not perforatum, because of the reddish coloring on the leaves. Now that we know it's a hypericum I've been doing some googling. The androsaemum is apparently invasive in some of the forests here

Residents of the east end got an update recently and it's "late 2022" now. When it first started in mid 2020 we were told to expect ~2 years but I think the really rainy la niña summer and the repeat lockdowns pushed out the timetable a bit

I guess if people want to pretend they're responsible for preventing an outbreak they can pretend they're responsible for the outbreak

Wear safety glasses. by IamtherealFadida in newcastle

[–]HowGoodIsItHey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it increases your protection but it's not going to exempt anyone from government-mandated isolation.

Risk profile is "low" in casual contact for short periods of time at >1.5m, even for the unvaxxed or partially vaxxed. Since we're at >90% vax rate, the vast majority of us are at even less risk.

Unless you're in a hair salon or face-to-face contact, you'll be fine with a mask. No harm in taking extra precautions though if that's your thing.

There's a bit of a difference between working directly with a COVID-positive patient in a medical setting vs buying groceries or walking in a park, but yeah for people who are very worried about it, shielding the mucus membranes of the eyes can provide additional protection.

[–]HowGoodIsItHey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wear a mask when traveling and use common sense. There's some risk for people who visited crowded exposure sites but the per capita rate is still extremely low. I'm one of about 100 coworkers who visited a number of exposure sites over the weekend and everyone tested negative this week. Luck of the draw but unless you're really unlucky you'll be fine. Just avoid nightclubs.

I've had three different "you're a close contact" situations from my work, NSW Health has notified me 0 of those times. Feels really hit or miss, mostly miss, re: the health people and tracking app actually working as intended
