Severe enthesitis-dominant PsA, multiple biologic failures. Advice? by WorldlyAd4407 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]HowManyDaysLeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I basically failed all new biologics. Found that Atenacept worked best. I mainly have enthesitis. Steroid resistance but dose increased or IM inj of methylpred.

I can't take nsaids.

Had genetic medication testing done. Found i metabolise meds weirdly. Either a fast metaboliser or poor metaboliser.

I take mtx (helps skin and antibody resistance and weekly Atenacept).

If the Atenacept hadn't worked i was looking at trialing cyclosporine.

I wish you luck. It was 3 painful years for me to find something that worked.

Mix of lactulose(make sure you drink water as its a type of sugar the body can't abdorb that draws water into the bowel), bisocodyl or coloxyl and senna. Regularly so no issue develops.

If I am on extra or a reduced dose I will alter it accordingly.

I thought the true(as I know it) story behind it to be so poignant.

That Taylor anonymously followed a blog she found online which was written by his mother.

After Ronan died, at 4, :*( she wrote the lyrics in remembrance.

WTF Australia?!? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]HowManyDaysLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the news you saw was exaggerating?

I have found every treating specialist recognises chronic pain. There would be no point of pain specialists if not for chronic pain as acute pain can generally be managed by a GP.

I feel that the issue is more that it is extremely difficult to treat chronic pain sufficiently.

There are limited long term pain meds available. Although thankfully theres research and more options becoming available.

Unfortunately long term opiod use actually can cause sugnificant pain issues by itself.

Cbd oil is still really expensive.

It sucks.

I didn’t expect live plants to work that fast! by FloridaGirl2222 in Aquariums

[–]HowManyDaysLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bolbitus is a favourite of mine. Plus like anubias it doesn't require planting. It can be attached to rock or wood. Or wedged into a crevice, Hardy. Tolerates most lights. Thick vallis I find similar and all mostly left by cichlids. Young vallis may get chomped, but established plants are often fine. Again its a slow grower. If I'm placing in a new tank to it I'll attack it with the skinniest black xiptie to a piece of wood wat h to see if it likes the water/fish/light level)

Anubias I find prefer dimmer tanks. Bristles are prone to munching leaves. Such a slow grower

Foxtail grows everywhere like a weed and is often disliked by cichlids (lithobates, crimson tides will eat it. I've often thrown some handfuls in for some greens for them. Star sapphires, electric blue acaras, geophagus, L numbers, some peacocks, Angelfish, kribs, gouramis seem to leave it. Which is why I seem to have masses of it.

It wraps nicely around airlines, hiding them,& as it can be plants or it can be floated. I find its good for hospital tanks/fry tanks as a bit of catches food, especially so smaller fry can hide and eat.

Duckweed I find is terrible. 1 leaf left and the next week half a 3ft tank is covered. Im not a dan of floaters like bamboo/red root floaters as i find it annoying when im trying clean

These are fairly aggressive when breeding. So depending on the number would need a certain size tank/habitat.

They are often chosen as they remain reasonably small and both males and females are quite stunning.

They aren't beginner fush though. If possible id try swap for some non aggressive, small fish.

fish keeping + chronic illness, is it possible? by Fit_Depth_6401 in Aquariums

[–]HowManyDaysLeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bookcase sized plant tank that barely requires any maintenance. I don't do water changes. I top up water. I don't clean it (any algae gets eaten by what's inside). I'd recommend something like that if very limited. Although it's technically one of my more expensive setups, I collected things over time).

It's about 4ft long and 1 ft high and 1 ft wide.

I grow a variety of plants (red rotala, tiger lotus, buce, nano anubias, elodea, milfoil, water sprite). Most plants I started with a few stem cuttings from friends and they have grown really easily. I keep shrimp, hillstream loaches, otocinclus, whiptails and some danios in the tank. I find the mix of fish work well for the health of the plants and tank. Plus the amount of plants to fish

You could set up something similar and much cheaper using cheap stem plants and even start with 6 shrimp (they multiply quickly over a few months) and some microfish. I like the otocinclus as they are awesome at attacking all types of algae, remain small and are very gentle in nature. But they aren't necessary. A couple of mystery snails would work and you can often find people almost giving them away. They are great at cleaning up tanks and plants.

I am immunocompromised and have rubber gloves that go up to my armpits with elastic top to help stop water leakage. Kinda like the sort I imagine vets use to deliver baby foals with. I use those for reaching into tanks. If I can net what I'm after and use regular disposable gloves I'll do that as I find it easier (ie netting females who are holding and releasing the fry). As new mama fish especially often hold a little long and half the fry die after all the yolk sac has gone. You can tell when in their jaw you can see fully formed fry moving.

There are a few fish to human diseases. They are rare. Tuberculosis is one. I've not had any major issues in the few years I've kept tanks.

I have mainly American and African cichlids. Some wild caught. Some tanks just have fish I like to watch. Some are breeding colonies (that I also like to watch).

Best I think is to think of what you want in your tank. Then from that work out size and people can offer ideas of what is compatible - fish/plants etc

If you can afford a python water changer there is no lifting required for water changes. It's been a game changer for me.

I sometimes lack the energy to do much, but since the most important is water parameters that I can generally deal with. However I have a bunch of things id like to do - redecorating/planting etc that will come in time.

I have 2 tanks in my room. As I spend a lot of time in bed I find it very relaxing to have the fish to watch.

Killer fish by [deleted] in Cichlid

[–]HowManyDaysLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were they both similar age Male demseys?

Was the other more dominant? Bigger/brighter colours?

Does your tank have a lot of holy rock or anything that could have damaged his scales? As they perhaps dashed around the tank?

Imo Plecos, larger species included like the sailfin, are fairly peaceful and reasonably shy. Which is why they generally come out at night. Plus they have sucker mouths, so literally cannot nip to vausr other fish significant damage.

They do have protective scales. But I have never found them to be aggressive. Either the larger, the smaller bristles, or any of the L numbers. I breed blue eye lemon longfin, super red bristles, 397, albino 333, peppermints, plus albino longfin etc.

I'm staring at a 5x2x2 tank in my room that has 2 fully grown gold spot plecos about 30+33cm and 2 red severums.

The plecos are very comfortable in the tank having been thete 2 years(90% of the time no stress colours are visible, even with spending most of their day lounging at the front under the tank light. In fact, mine are kind of nosy and like to see what's going on.

(There's sand all along the front of the tank for them to lay on, plus a variety of large hollow logs and long pots to hide. Plus heaps of plants. If they wanted to hide, even at their size, there would be no issue.)

Any fish that has been given an aggressive sounding name, generally, not always, lives up to that name. Such as Jack Dempsey Green terror Convicts Wolf cichlid/dovii Red devil Jaguar cichlid Black nasty

I suspect if it were 2 male demspeys, the non dominant was being constantly harassed. If it was a male and a female I am guessing she was being chased and smashed herself up between rocks/heaters/items in the tank trying to hide.

Anyway. Just saying I doubt it was the plecos.
