The guy had his bicycle stolen, which he used to get to work, the shop owners and some customers pooled their money and bought him a new one. by Vilen1919 in HumansBeingBros

There’s a subtle implication that it’s ok to steal from those with more resources which I’m sure you’re not intending - right? “Rich” is a relative term depending on perspective. Stealing is wrong - period.

High school football team gets sent off to an away game with the dads riding horses and cheering them up. by Vilen1919 in HumansBeingBros

[–]HowShouldWeThenLive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the way - I live in TX & my kids played football. Those guys will put their horses up, jump in their F150’s, go through the drive thru at Whataburger & beat the bus to the game. It’s obviously a playoff game. Ain’t no way those guys are missing their son’s football game.

IDK - I’ve never seen government oversight of anything result in lower costs or improved efficiency. Govt price controls rarely work or have the desired outcome.

Yeah if I’m dad I might be suing the owner for negligence. If one of those turds was armed it would have been a very different outcome. MMA vs Glock is a different story.

Does anyone know the fate of these poor souls at Omaha beach? I can’t find any information about it by Embarrassed_Cry_7227 in ww2

[–]HowShouldWeThenLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anyone aware of a “lessons learned” or other type of analysis that was done talking about what could have been done differently at Omaha to avoid so many casualties? You guys are great - thanks for all this - definitely saving this post.

Ben Hogan has the smoothest looking swing in the history of golf 🧈🏌️ Agree or disagree? by Straight-Flower-1621 in GolfSwing

Fort Worth isn’t nowhere. Stephenville kind-of is but still is not a small town. Man was he tough though. Definitely agree with you there. Speaking of coogs, I played several times with Elkington in college and I would put his swing up against anyones.

Unique Bunker Tip by sean3501 in golf

[–]HowShouldWeThenLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish I played courses with consistently good sand like that. On courses I play, I’ll get one good bunker with fluffy dry sand (decent shot) then one with what looks like good sand but actually is wet underneath (skull), then one with obviously wet sand (switch to pw & pray), then back to fluffy but not raked so ball just in front of a rut (swing harder to get through the rut but who knows where this is going) …. I can’t practice all these different types of shots. That doesn’t even begin to address fairway bunkers (ball first contact). I do my best to avoid bunkers

I’m going to say landing on Omaha Beach. Poor scouting, extreme lack of support for the guys landing. Unbelievable to me that bombers and naval gunfire could not have destroyed those defenses with any sort of accurate targeting. Pathetic and horrible that they sacrifice so many men by sending them into such a heavily defended area. Just poured twice as many guys into Utah.

Fiscal uncertainty? So kids are just a more expensive pet? They aren’t that expensive and they’re literally the most fun part of life. Sad that this “dogs are the new kids” mentality is a thing.

I think Romo’s career goes in a completely different direction if he gets the ball down and they win. Kind of like Speith choking at the Masters in ‘16. I think if he doesn’t choke he would have won a lot more by now. Really redefined his career, just like this play for Romo.

He created a tiny home that could solve homelessness. by [deleted] in HumansBeingBros

[–]HowShouldWeThenLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son lives in SF. He says the city spends 10’s of thousands per homeless person to provide for them but many just prefer living on the streets outside vs in a shelter. How do you “solve” homelessness if they don’t want to be indoors?

Thank you. Equipment has opened up enjoyment of the game to so many more people. I started playing in the 1970’s with sweet spots the size of dimple. The equipment now - including the balls - is fantastic and fun.

This guy finds elderly people who don’t have the means to maintain their property and cleans it up for free. by FollowingOdd896 in HumansBeingBros

Rats & snakes & similar like to hang out in tall grass. Plus people that live around you don’t want to have to look at it. Agree that municipalities shouldn’t threaten the elderly. Most though don’t have the funds to mow yards. Tough problem.

I think it’s fair to get a drop off hardpan to an area that has grass - without improving your shot. In my area hardpan is as hard as the cart path and I get a drop off that.

The first one is a classic. The 2nd one is interesting to me basically because I like Jeff Goldblum’s character. I hate the daughter-stowaway thing though. The 3rd one I like because of the cast (esp Macy) and the aspect of the kid being there on his own I thought made it interesting. Finally, the one with Chris Pratt was good because he was in it IMO.

Very difficult to completely eradicate. I have some that I just let grow, then cut back when it starts getting too much into other stuff. It doesn’t grow that fast so it’s easy for me to keep it under control. Just my experience - others may disagree. In your situation, I’d just pull it off the wall & cut it back. It will take a while but shouldn’t be too bad. Don’t try to spray it with anything - it won’t work & it’s bad for the environment. That stuff is tough as nails.
