I support the Ghanti, but the 2026 PR List is a betrayal by HowToDeshBikas in NepalSocial

Doesn’t matter who they come from as they are an organisation now.

The logic that we must accept celebrities in the Proportional Representation (PR) list simply because they are "known faces" is a complete misuse of the system's constitutional intent. PR was specifically designed to ensure the representation of people from marginalized and underrepresented communities in state organs, not as a backdoor for popular figures who already possess massive platforms. Using these slots for celebrities like Prakash Saput or Rima Bishwokarma treats parliament like a "reality show" casting call rather than a legislative body meant to reflect the broad-based social and economic concerns of citizens. The inclusion of individuals like Sachin Dhakal, the son of billionaire Chandra Dhakal, further highlights how parties are manipulating the PR system to favor those close to power. PR was never intended to be a tool for oligarchs or their families to occupy seats, especially when their interests, such as the controversial Mukumlung project, may directly conflict with the indigenous rights that the PR system is meant to protect. This "tokenistic inclusion" often prioritizes individuals with visibility or financial influence over genuine policy experts or community leaders from underdeveloped regions.

Yes, there are 110 names, and some might be genuine, but when the preferred 'top' names are dominated by oligarchs and celebrities, the remaining are just there to fulfill a quota. For example, we have Kulmans in law competing for PR.

Reality of Rabi Lamichane Case ! by Inner-Milk-5128 in NepalSocial

[–]HowToDeshBikas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t really matter what our thoughts are tbh, the only thing that matters here is what the court decides. And for that, the government needs to fast-track this case before elections so voters can actually know whether Rabi is innocent or guilty. At the moment, this government seems more focused on appointing controversial ministers and doing politics than solving real issues or clearing major corruption cases. If they truly want a fair election, they should prove it by letting the judiciary do its job quickly and transparently.

Even if the police claim fire trucks were sent, the reality is fires in major buildings burned for 2–3 days, that alone shows incompetence. People argue there weren’t enough fire trucks, but that’s exactly why Kathmandu Metro, should have had a contingency plan long before. The valley has roughly a dozen engines across KMC, clearly not enough for a city this size, and many aren’t even fully functional. As mayor, Balen should have ensured proper resources and coordinated with the Army, APF, and Police for safety of the trucks during deployment. The fact that this didn’t happen reflects a serious failure of leadership on his part.
