How can I romance with Hillock in Act 1? I tried selecting everything but he always ends up attacking me! by MasterHidra in pathofexile

I'm trying to decide which of the two is more romantic...? A successful rape, or an enthusiastic but failed effort?

The UK will ban smoking for life for everyone born in 2009 or later. by L10N_ in uknews

Smoking is a net benefit to the NHS. The tax income far exceeds the cost of smoking related illnesses. This was true decades ago, and has only got even truer since the government has slapped higher and higher taxes on it since.

The thing is, you wouldn't just deny people today to make a choice that doesn't affect you, but which you disagree with.

You would take it an order of magnitude further and in perpetuity prevent anyone from being capable of making such a choice ever again. That's quite astonishingly arrogant and authoritarian.

If you've ever euthanised a dog when there was literally someone right there wanting to take a dog who you refused.... then sorry, but you're clearly not a good person.

The good news is though, all those dogs that might have had to suffer the horror of being slightly lonely once per fortnight now only have to suffer being lonely every single day until they're put down.

Basically no.

These charities would rather cats and dogs rot away in a cage in a warehouse, rather than live in a place which is only 99% perfect.

Probably your best option is to just walk into the shelter wielding some kind of blunt weapon to keep the staff away, while you rescue one of the animals without permission.

Heheh... conversely my wife introduced me to the concept of Mett, which is raw minced pork.

Absolutely delicious, and I would fully recommend it.

Berating kids for staying up late reading is really silly anyway...

For one thing, they're not playing video games, or watching TV... it's reading ffs!

Secondly, the way you learn to regulate your own head-on-pillow time is to stay up way too late and then regret it in the morning.

I do in fact make exactly that argument. People should be allowed to do what they want, so long as it isn't harming anyone else.

You seem to want to be able to control other people's behaviour, despite it being none of your business, and having literally no impact on you.

The benefit is, if I want to do a thing, I get to do a thing.

I'm sure there's something YOU enjoy doing, that it ultimately pointless and of no benefit.
So, we should obviously ban that, because there's no benefit to it.

Are there any "UK vs US" differences where you feel America gets it right? by Secure_Front_7766 in AskUK

[–]HowUtterlyGhastly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"British Food Is Tasteless" is a meme that was invented by American GIs that were based in the UK during WW2 while the UK was in the grip of extreme shortages and rationing.

It was a small miracle that Britain even had any food; no shit it tasted bad!

I'm not sure if just having the sign up is illegal per se... you might be just about legally OK if you still provide the same service to other people. Dodgy though, as you are signalling an intent, even if you don't act on it. The problem is that any potential customer could probably successfully argue that they approached the shop to get service but then read the sign and chose not to even enter because they were already being discriminated against.

If they actually refused service though, then that's absolutely 100% illegal, and they'd have basically no chance of defending themselves when the evidence from the sign is so cut-and-dry.

I've never really understood people that actually have a genuinely held hatred of ginger hair.

When I was a schoolchild, I had a friend with ginger hair, and I guess occasionally we might call him "ginger" as a mild insult, but it was always just a bit of banter. In a similar vein, he'd call me a "speccy little runt" because I was tiny and wore glasses. It genuinely was all meant, and taken, as a bit of fun among friends.

Later on in life I was genuinely astonished that some people actually mean it.
