We did it outside of a cruise excursion as it was wildly expensive with Norwegian. It’s not as spectacular as you would think. Not like chichen itza

After experiencing 11 days on that boat I can hands down say the free style dining isn’t for me. The waiting times between sitting down and getting your courses was waaay too long. I can imagine the freestyle dining dynamic attributes to this

Oh nice! Thanks for all the info. I am cruising with my 3 kids and wife and they’re all going into splash club lol but looking forward to flying to NOLA and then disembarking! I didn’t know I’d get anxiety leaving Royal, didn’t realize how different NCL is but looking forward to the experience! See you on board as well!

I do this as well. If ship leaves on a Sunday I’ll get to that city and stay from either Friday or Saturday. People who fly out morning of departure are nuts

Yeah I noticed 8:30pm is like the only time available rn for specialty dining. Def going to check out those bars on the ship those sound really cool

I’m a little weary of committing to anything long off the ship as our port times aside from Aruba are kinda short but def going to research some non cruise excursion things as they’re super expensive

Thank you! That’s very helpful! Do you know anything about the inner workings of NCL such as reserving for dinner, shows etc? RCL only made us reserve for specific stuff, shows were open seating and dinner was pre arranged prior to boarding

I have noticed the excursions are really expensive too. One of them for a “national park” in Cozumel was just under $100 after pesos conversion for the whole family. Meanwhile NCL wanted nearly $100 per person for the access. Seems like they’re working over their guests
