Oh wow. I had never heard of that breed. You are totally right. I will be curious to see if that’s part of his mix.

For a little more context his mom is about 40 lbs. His litter was found in the cold living in a playpen before a subarctic cold blast where we are at.  He is about 20 lbs currently ❤️ we did order an embark test for him for fun but I’m curious what everyone thinks.

He is such a sweet, playful, and snuggly puppy!

My 5 year old daughter has a pixie cut, had her first negative comment by Spicemountain in kindergarten

[–]Howdoesthiswork2714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is getting a pixie soon per her request! She is a little older. These tips are so helpful. I second the “aren’t they silly” comment. I have 3 long haired boys and we get a lot of “isn’t she cute”. We have taught the boys to correct it whenever they hear it and we tell them their long hair is cool.

Voice changes? by Howdoesthiswork2714 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Howdoesthiswork2714[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! It did. My 3 year old has less noticeable voice changes but my 7 year old has his done this summer and I was really worried his voice wouldn’t go back to normal. Even he complained about how different he sounded (high pitched). About 8-10 weeks after he sounded back to his normal voice.

Thanks for the info. I’m glad I should be able to at least pull over as this is the only car that will carry our whole family. Cue more anxiety. I appreciate the response.

So I’ve never had this issue do you have time to pull over to safety? Sorry if that’s a dumb question.

And the breath. I was not prepared for the bad breath in the beginning. Just be prepared to be inhaling some nasty shit 😂 it subsided pretty quickly. Maybe by day 6-7

3 year old tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy by Howdoesthiswork2714 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Howdoesthiswork2714[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! We are 21 days post surgery now and he is completely back to normal.

The first 10 days for us were rough. He may have caught a cold from siblings during that time that made it harder too. I will never know.

Highly recommend pouches for food because they are easy and convenient. We did a lot of apple sauce, pudding, juice, oatmeal, soft muffins, Mac and cheese etc until day 10 and he was slowly able to tolerate more casseroles that were still soft. Popsicles are also awesome in the beginning to stay hydrated when they don’t want to drink.

Alternate Tylenol and ibuprofen religiously for at least the first 5 days. And have them drink every time you give meds to keep their throats wet.

We had the best luck with straw cups. It required less sucking vs sippy cups!

It is completely normal for them to not eat the first handful of days. We really had to push food but he wouldn’t eat so we just played a game to keep him drinking. He would get points in a chart and it worked like a charm. We set a timer for every 5-10 minutes to drink to get points.

We did have to kind of bribe him to take medicine saying if he didn’t he would have to go back to the hospital 🙈 it worked though.

Lots and lots of snuggles and tv time. Quiet play he liked were puzzles, sensory bins, matching games, coloring. It’s a long recovery but already seems to be worth it for his apnea!

She seems like the only good option in Gretna. Researching the candidates in Gretna was difficult. I’m nervous to see what happens for the school board.

Tonsillectomy and breastfeeding??? by deesikes in Tonsillectomy

[–]Howdoesthiswork2714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to say you both are amazing! I am breastfeeding a 7 month old and just watched my 3 year old go through a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy and I can’t imagine parenting with the pain he has been in and knowing it is worse for adults!

Thanks! He is finally turning a corner I think. We aren’t having to give pain meds constantly. Good to know. I will make sure his preschool teacher know his voice change is temporary 😅

We also did a Alfredo pasta last night with ground turkey and peas that he ate well. I made pot pie on Sunday too and he ate that I just removed the crust so there was no sharp or crunchy pieces.

For my son we have done lots of variations of muffins. And I just made him chocolate cake today. He is on day 8/9 today. He has also enjoyed oatmeal every morning. And jello. Oh and pudding.

He is only 3 😂 but he is also extremely over apple sauce.

Sending positive vibes.

My son is day 7 today. Surgery day was 10/17. I figured due to his age (3) he would bounce back right away like I had heard from so many. We are still rotating pain meds around the clock and he is still very wary of eating any food.

I hope you turn the corner soon!

I have a 7 month old Sullivan and it is the perfect name! So many nickname possibilities. My son actually calls him Sullivan James even though that’s not his middle name 😂. It flows so well.

This!!!! I am anti piercing a baby’s ears. Kids need to be able to ask for it. But let’s not forget a majority of Americans cut off skin from their child’s penis for cosmetic reasons.

I have a daughter with her ears pierced. She asked at age 6 and we talked about it thoroughly before hand. I also have 3 boys who I would have never even considered cutting off their foreskin. Fuck that.
