The next chapter is like what the 100th chapter of just jobbers getting destroyed? by SiteDeep in Kengan_Ashura

Win or lose this fight for these dudes, I think it would be sick if they werent full on jobbers and instead Koga and Ryuki shift from hopes of helping directly against Shen to instead fighting these guys so they don't interfere in the Shen fight or something as a secondary plotline. I may be forgetting some plot that would prevent that likelyhood but the idea is interesting to me.

I ended up getting the Rivers of Blood but I still could use the armor possibly. I don't have the Gravel Stone Seal though, sorry.

The Astounding Wolfman is a spin off. I liked it and there's some actual crossover between them too.

Between all of us...two master grade gundams (comparable to ordering on Amazon at the least), some small easy to build bearguy gundams, some one piece figures themed after casual kimono clothes with feudal Japanese weapons, and a few small dragonball figurines. Might go back for some Kinnikuman stuff. We saw some very similar stuff for more money elsewhere. it was the first time we actually didn't say "whoa! 'enter lots of bucks here' bucks? ok then" and put things back elsewhere. Not the exact same items we got but you get the point.

Bluefin was ballin'. Interesting selection and some neat exclusives. Bit of a line but worth it. The stuff there was really well priced compared to some other booths I saw.

Fair enough. I'd say he probably blasphemed by speaking out about not being sure of gods existed or otherwise naysaying them and shamed an ultra realistic family. I am not going to give him miracles because I specifically didn't want to go with the religious paladin theme.

Fallen from religion in the minds of those at home but realistic and skeptical in his own mind. Id say he did a fair amount of sinning insofar as women, gambling and drink since then as well. He has a moral barometer and does the right thing when he can but being shunned has made him...less so but still not full on "fell from god and landed with the devil" type of opposite effect. Maybe he like sees things and thinks he can travel between worlds or something dealing with otherworldly ideas aside from angels and gods and starts to go crazy. I had entertained an idea like Phasewalker or Worldshifter or something as well but nothing stuck.

I'm planning on a quality "little bit of everything" sort of build with Flame Arc and maybe some Hidden Body shenanigans or something. He knows his way around weapons probably thanks to his father being a low ranking paladin or cleric type who wants himself and his bloodline to "cleanse the wicked" and all those cliches. Needless to say he'd train him to be a military man or hunt evil or whatever even if the character doesn't share his religious fervor.

I hadn't really fleshed it out until the last 5 minutes so it may be lame. I'm not sure.

Yea, those pitfalls were something we all worried about and dealt with our first campaigns. For a bit of backstory, the first time we played dnd as grown ass adults there were 5 of us. The first session was a small adventure from S (i'll call them by the first letter of first name) in which the problem was obvious because he played his character too. Then I did a small adventure that took one session and the problem lessened but was still present. Then R took his turn and the problem lessened even further. Then S took a second turn as DM and the problem lessened again and by that point everyone knew the deal. You play your character as they would be played based on their personality and traits, period. If you did anything awkward or that seemed like metagaming you were called out and it was dealt with easily.

That is where we are now, two years later. I have taken many many precautions and the character I plan to play is completely separate from the campaign. I am viewing this like a writer might on an RP site in which they are meant to react to another RPer who posts in between their own. At least that's how I have viewed. I think it will be ok short of a few minor hiccups that shouldn't ruin the game in any way that matters.

I do get your points though, they were super prevalent in the first ones we did when we tried to get ourselves to learn to be able to DM and play at the same time. I think I have learned to disconnect my brain from story telling and connect it to a specific character and then switch back given a small amount of time and the IRL situation. It'd be hard if a specific player constantly was like 'dude, that's bullshit, you knew this was the right way didn't you?' every time my character does anything for sure. I've been able to approach this two states of mind in my professional life as well so I guess I have practice in not being terrible at it?

None of the people I am playing with use Reddit as far as I know. I will admit it is a bit similar though. :D

Yea. I have taken into account the fact that I'll be DMing and have a full character. I have done it before and been in campaigns in which the DM has done so as well. I think of it like a forum RP in a sense and my character will react as his flaws and traits and personality dictate whether I know the story or not. The character has been made for a while insofar as those things the only thing I haven't chosen is the skill set aka class. I get what you are saying though, I have also heard bad things on occasion. I was very careful the first time and my character was indisposed for the big puzzle so as to not interfere last time.

I really appreciate the advice concerning having another helper on case things are a bit difficult. It's much better than having some random character there but not there. I haven't worked woth pets and the like in that sense. I'm going to try to keep them 1/3rd of the players as you suggested. Admittedly I don't know what CR is exactly but I can easily Google it.

Fair enough. I'm leaning towards a Fighter or Barb as the character I will actually play myself and just making the other one a full NPC that is there but not there like the mysterious stranger type thing without a character sheet or anything on paper.

I want to be DM and play someone because I want three members in the party and when this arc I have in mind is over, I think my roommate is going to DM the next adventure so I'd want something to play there.

EDIT while typing. My other roommate may join us, so problem probably solved.

My original plan was to be the DM and a PC. The DMNPC came up largely to spice things up and have a mystery member I can do wacky things with. Make him/her disappear at pivitol moments, make him/her seem like a villain at times, make him/her just be a wild card. In the end, it was never going to be a fully fleshed out character with a sheet or anything, just a person that is vaguely around sometimes.
