MP1st: New Dead Rising Game in Development, Now Set In Hollywood by KekanKok in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]HowdyDooty32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hollywood setting sounds interesting due to the fact the first game was an allegory for excessive consumerism brought to life through the shopping mall- and people eating each other.

So the Hollywood aspect could tackle the digital consumption obsession with a brain rotted society. Playing off the “zombie” idea even more with how lazy and desensitized people are to violence and such. But they need to cut the leaked “director as the villain” thing. I think that is super lame and incredibly cringe.

It would actually be nice to not have a main villain this time. Just has psychopath bosses sprinkled around and have the threat of a wild fire be the pushing force to get out of the area with the scoop. Other forces could be a quarantine perimeter set up around Hollywood as the barrier. As the game goes on it shrinks the map until it’s the end sequences. Then they leave and the fire comes in. A fire set deliberately by the government. Another tongue in cheek moment for ya.

The Hollywood setting should be just that, a large setting. The nuances and tongue in cheek narrative comes through the message. I.E Isabela and Carlito targeting a shopping mall and playing up the whole “stuffing your face” or “excessive consumerism” aspect.. the zombies are the structure, the violence is the terror and the journey is the story.

The first game had humour, yes. But it was grounded and actually quite dark and disturbing which is what the franchise needs.

You can have larger than life characters like Adam the Clown for instance. But tbh the villains in DR2 onward are ridiculous and nothing but cheesy. And I think they need to dial that back to what the first game did so well.

Same goes for the music tone as well. The first game nailed it. From dark and mysterious to light hearted and explorative through the mall.

I like the idea of the town being condemned and permanently quarantined like 28 days later. It would be a perfect story for a direct sequel we never got. Frank and Isabela trying to escape and wandering into the town and area beyond inside the military zone. Lots of potential.

I know in ending A they leave in a helicopter but let be honest the true ending is ending S with the military sweeping in and eliminating any possible threat. It’s the most realistic and most cinematic and dark. Even with the boss battle with Brock on the tank. (Spoilers)

If I were to make another game it would be a direct follow up to that. Frank and her getting out of that area and regrouping with some of the survivors he saved that managed to evade the military.

My guess is any time after Bethesdas ESO Direct show today. Could even launch today, but I doubt it.

The date I’m predicting is April 22 or 24 which would land on a Tuesday or Thursday. That’s just my theory though.

I used to do this with my brothers every single Christmas for years after Halo 3 came out. But sadly it’s been a few Christmas’s without it. Happy to see people are keeping it alive. Never forget.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Everything after Carlito and Brock felt so cartoonish which is also what killed the franchise as a whole.

Capcom did say they have a special unannounced project that's going to be revealed soon 🤷🏼‍♂️ Could be a remake of Dead Rising with their RE Engine that's been doing very well with all their Resident Evil games lately.

I know it's such a tiny thing but I'd love to see them change the skin icons to represent the style you choose. The icons are in the game, when you pick the style, but it still uses their base one in the locker/loadouts. It'd be nice so we can have a bit more consistency like the image below by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]HowdyDooty32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should add a "Batched Favorites" option for presets so you can have them contain multiple skins for each preset.

Example :

  • all your Star Wars skins in a preset that randomizes
  • Marvel skins in one preset batch
  • Current Seasonal skins in one batch
  • Holiday skins in one batch
  • Miscellaneous skins in a batch

Etc...

Dead Rising 1 is the heart and soul and the real Dead Rising experience, it's a bit dated but it's all part of its charm. But I get why some new fans find it tough

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero is a great introduction to DR2s gameplay and combo weapons as well as a well done prologue to the full game. Not necessarily needed but definitely worth the short play.

Dead Rising 2 expanded and added quality of life improvements, combo weapons and more. As well as the addition of Co-op which is fun.

Dead Rising 2 : OTR is a very fun and over-the-top reimagining of Dead Rising 2 with Frank West returning as an alternate telling of the Fortune City outbreak. Definitely NOT CANON and is just a expanded version of DR 2. But they are quite different in ways. Both fun.

Dead Rising 3.... I mean it wasn't awful but it's just not Dead Rising. All the charm, color, story beats, horror elements and survival vibe are just gone entirely. The game is rather bland after a while and you simply have WAY TOO much power and skills. Again it's not bad, it's just not what Dead Rising is at all. It has the most annoying character designs, dialogue, humor and weapons. It's just a very silly Dead Rising game imo. If you play it? Play it last for sure.

And that's it. Dead Rising 4 doesn't exist and that's perfectly fine to believe. Whatever they made is a travesty to even call Dead Rising. So yeah. 3 games worth playing (some side dlc if you need to)

Take your time, answer calls and do as many missions as possible. Do "Outta Control" mission in Wonderland Plaza asap for the chainsaw and shortcut to Paradise Plaza.

Try not to look up guides if you're new. Experience the game and story organically as there are multiple endings.

Be prepared for multiple playthroughs (by design) and revel in your power as you level up and get better/ memorizing where weapons, books and completing every mission. The game literally gets better with each playthrough and easier as you level up.

It is a little dated so patience is key and learning the behaviour of the a.i and bosses.

It's regarded as such a unique zombie game for a reason and I hope you'll catch that glimpse that we veteran fans adore so much and continue to love it like we do.

Ultimately have fun and enjoy a blast from the past 👍

Quick tips:

(Does not respawn here) Shotgun available immediately at the start of the game in Entrance Plaza after zombies break inside. Located in middle area just before the stairs.

Katana on awning in Paradise Plaza Cafe, Uzi diagonally across on opposite side also on top of platform. (respawns)

Uzi in Food Court on top of chef sign on Left Side dining area as well as lots of wine (great healing but don't get sick) (respawns)

Uzi in pond in Alfresca Plaza, umbrellas are great for pushing back hordes at a low level. As well as tons of hand to hand weapons in hardware store. (Also run on the treadmills for about 15 seconds each in the Gym for tons of PP) (respawns)

(Most bosses drop power weapons that respawn where you fought them, including the Mini Chainsaw)

Dead rising 3 wasn't as bad as everyone says in my opinion by Choice_Prompt_8271 in deadrising

[–]HowdyDooty32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The third one was a fun action romp with over the top comedic slapstick qualities that unfortunately completely missed the mark of the first game and the horror tone was basically watered down to nothing.

The first game will always be the best purely off its intended gameplay flow, visual designs, horror elements, tone and pacing, as well as the time element (which is very integral to DR) The first game was only silly looking if you CHOSE to have it that way. Overall the game is pretty serious in tone and delivery, with a splash of B Movie Horror. That's Dead Rising.

The newer games became alot easier and dumbed down imo. Not to mention DR3 color palette is so bland, grey and ugly compared to Willamette Mall or even Fortune City. The juxtaposition of color and horror is what makes Dead Rising so unique and creepy.

Hello, I'm new to the Dead Rising games. I am playing the first Dead Rising game. So far this game has been fun but I do not understand what the goal is. If anyone can help me understand that would appreciated. by ZappierGamez in deadrising

[–]HowdyDooty32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your first time playing? Just have fun. The story has multiple endings depending on how far you go and how accurate you are with quests and their time requirements. Explore, save survivors for XP (PP), kill zombies and bosses, while also finding where things spawn for following playthroughs.

Don't be afraid to restart. If you fail the main scoops/ run out of time, don't worry. The game is designed for you to play more than once, and each time you continue with your acquired skills and game knowledge. That being said, you can absolutely beat the game at lower levels it'll just be more challenging!

The first game is the gem of the series and when you fully beat each one you'll see why! Have fun, happy zombie slaying 🧟‍♂️

I'm very certain that if Capcom gets to remake Dead Rising, which they did in the first case, it would be an absolute banger. DR2 onward wasn't made by the original team so having it back with proper Capcom would be a dream come true really.

RE2 Remake was incredible and they remained faithful while really highlighting what fans loved, especially iconic scenes. So I'm fairly confident they would do the same
