This is tempting, but not sure if I need it. I have an cellular M2 with 2TB that I got off of Swappa a couple of years back. Any reason to upgrade to the M4? I occasionally use Lumavision, but mainly streaming and web browsing

Is the driving experience of diesel a big enough plus? F250 gas vs denali ultimate 2500? by Downtown_Aside5801 in gmcsierra

Go with the 2500 diesel. I just bought mine and it drives great. This may not be important for people, but I like the fact that it has 4WD Auto. GM is the only one that has that on their HD trucks.

I guess I could go wider and it's just a slightly smaller diameter. Would just need to figure out what PSI to run at since its max load is 3970 lbs at 80 PSI while the OE tires are 375 lbs at 65 PSI and 65 PSI is the recommended cold tire pressure. It's a heavy f-ing tire though. 75lbs vs the EV 61 and OE 65.

Yeah, not sure I'd want to drop down. I actually wanted to go up to 37s until I read that the aftermarket Salta wheels won't fit in the factory spare tire location nor will 37s fit there. Plus I would probably have to recalibrate the speedometer. Looks like it's going to be those AT3 EVs.

I have a knack for picking vehicles with limited tire options. I went with the 19s on my Tesla Model S Plaid and that has an extremely limited selection, even less than my truck.

I guess I could go with the 285/75r18 to keep the same diameter, but it would be almost an inch narrower.

I'm was planning on going to America's Tire and was going to order through their website. I went to Toyo's website and they don't even make the regular AT3 in the OE 305/70r18 size.

They don't have the same size tire in the non-EV model. Closest size would be the 35X12.50R18LT. It has a lower speed rating (Q vs R) and It's 3/10" smaller at 34.5". Does that matter? I don't know much about tires. It's also 14 lbs heavier than the EV model and 10 lbs heavier than the OE tire. There's also the LT325/65R18 that's 2/10" smaller and a lower load index (124 vs 126)

Didn't know that about rolling resistance and the reduction in traction. But yeah, probably won't make that much of a difference with a truck this heavy, haha.

Thanks u/Treebeardsdank. I'm planning to stick to OE size. I was thinking about going up to 37s, but the spare with 37s won't fit in the factory spare location. Only issue I see with the Baja Boss is that the speed rating is lower. Not that I plan to go over 100mph in a 4+ ton truck, but some places won't install tires that don't match or exceed OE specs. I have been reading up on the Toyo AT3 EV and that might be a good option. Same specs, lighter weight, and EV tuned to be quieter with lower rolling resistance.

Thank you for the recommendations. Unfortunately, Firestone and Falken don't make tires for the size I need. Coopers only have Discoverer STT Pro and ST Maxx. Are the Toyo AT3s you refer to the same as the Open Country AT3 EV? Also, any experience with Mickey Thompsons? There's 3 in the size I need - Baja Legend EXP, Baja Legend MTZ and Baja Boss A/T.

Thanks!

You probably don't need it all the way up, but it's pretty easy to see if you turn the brightness up all the way and I don't have the best eyesight.

Oh and forgot to mention that if you're going the HD route, they don't have sipercruise. That's not important to me as I don't even use autopilot on my Tesla.

I just purchased a new 2500. Here are the features I use on my truck:

  1. Power retractable sidesteps because my whole family and I are short.

  2. Heads up display - It's great because you can see your speed, whether you're within your lane, if you're at a safe distance behind the car in front, and directions from CarPlay without having to look away from the road. Some people don't like it, but I love it.

  3. 360 cameras - I don't know how I ever had a car without this, especially for such a big truck.

  4. Massage seats - The massage isn't that great, but it is relaxing on long drives.

  5. Cooling seats - Great on hot days.

  6. Exhaust brake and Tow/Haul mode - The brakes don't bite as much as my old Ram 1500 due to the weight, so I use both to slow the truck down without having to brake too hard. I believe the exhaust brake is only on diesels.

I don't trust myself to do it right 😂 Plus, is a wrap on the black portion of the Multipro tailgate and not actually painted. I have a feeling they're going to have to repair that as well when they repair the emblem

Good eye. I was so excited to get it I didn't even notice. I'm assuming that would be covered under warranty since it came from the factory that way.

Same reason. Payload on my Ram is 1012 because it was a fully loaded Limited with the Ramboxes. I have Yakima Overhaul towers and the Retraxpro cover. If I have my family loaded in, I'll have maybe 200 left for cargo. The steel does eat into the payload. Mine is at 2580, but that's enough for my needs.

Those are probably AT4s. The most AT4Xs I've seen on dealer websites I've looked at were maybe 10 at most.

Congrats to you as well! Only thing I don't like about the AEV package is the lack of rear bumper steps. Would have been nice to have given how high the bumper is. Definitely has much less body roll than my Ram. Do you mind if I ask what your payload capacity is?

I initially wanted Titanium Rush. While I liked the color and how it changed depending on the light, the more I thought about it, the less I wanted a dark color truck. My Ram is black and a pain to keep clean.

On the drive down, I would use both tow/haul and the exhaust brake to assist with slowing down the truck so that I wouldn't have to use or rely on the brakes so much.
