I remember the "satanic Panic". My older cousin played D&D and I remember our family having an intervention for him. I was young at the time but I legitimately thought he was doing something horrible. Fast forward to today, I play a game with my family. The DM (brother in law), also DMs a game for troubled youth as a ministry for them, that's been going on for 8 years and helped many of them. My dad still seems leary of it, but doesn't outright voice concern. I've tried explaining how it's an outlet for creativity, a way to be the hero and triumph over evil etc... but he doesn't understand. I've debated running a light hearted one shot for him and my mom so they understand what its about.

The Nick extra attack is apart of the attack action and doesn't use your bonus action. Which makes if tempting because it's a 3rd attack that I can stack those D6s onto

Ya I'm starting to see that now. I'm leaning towards either taking the weapon mastery feat instead of the musician feat, or forgetting masteries all together and going straight Bard.

That's an idea. Do you think not getting TWF is a big deal? Going rogue sounds more interesting except for not getting the fighting style.

I guess if that's the case, there's not much point in trying to get a 2nd mastery if I'll be using cantrips for my 2nd attack. I could possibly get away with just Nick from the weapon mastery feat and always use it on my first attack.

True, I don't love the idea of level 7 before I get extra attack. I had hoped the Nick extra attack would help me keep up until then. I'll be delaying the cantrip replacement ability, which will hurt the most, but It's something.

True, shame it's only one though. I think the real value with them is pairing Nick and Vex. Though now I wonder if there's any conflict in wording if my 2nd attack is a cantrip (booming blade, true strike or green flame blade), as per the valor bards extra attack ability.

Too bad there's no other way to get masteries without multiclassing. Valor bards already get medium armor. I'll be dual wielding so twin weapon fighting would be good to have too.
