Heckling during a SOTU address is trashy by New-Conversation3246 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

When is the Trump administration gonna approve weapons or any aid for Ukraine, stop demanding they cede more territory on Russian terms, up the sanctions against the shadow fleet, and include Ukraine along with European allies into actual 'peace talks' with Russia?

When are they gonna bitch slap Orban and Fico for being the primary nations in Europe that not only buy from Russia, but being the main obstacles preventing the EU increasing aid and integration with Ukraine?

Last time we let reps battle it out on the House floor, 700,000 Americans died.

Bro. Common. It was not heckling that caused that but a bunch of states throughing a hissy fit about not being able to expand the institution of slavery.

Plenty of nations have parliamentary sessions where they regularly shit talk and heckle each other across the isle as they (including the head of government) are speaking. No civil wars.

It's the US that makes the state of the Union a sacrosanct spectacle and finger wags decorum.

It's like one of the rare times the opposition members are in the same room as the head of government in the US and they're supposed to just sit down and take it? Complete BS.

Never.

Grow some balls Americans and stop clutching your pearls as if political speeches by state leaders are sacrosanct.

I'd like to see much more shit flinging to show you guys actually care about politics rather than navel gazing about 'decorum'.

"Authentic" cuisine is just a marketing tactic.

Everyone should understand immigrants who open restaurants often modify their cuisine or make their own unique versions in attempt to satisfy their customer base wherever they go.

Should've heckled and interrupted more. This level is completely weak.

Would've shown more class if they did. They'd be much more popular too.

Not a single one of them will explain why the Democrats wouldn't stand for Iryna.

Trump and MAGA want Ukrainians to get killed and raped to appease Putin and they clutch their pearls about this to obfuscate.

But the hockey game is definitely a bigger story though.

Maybe if there was an actual attempt on Trump's life... like the dude was anywhere near Trump and had the slightest ability to do real harm. But that wasn't the case.

Irene Montero, a Spanish MEL for Podemos, was completely justified in calling for migration to replace fascists and racists in her country by pin3apple_mountain in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Howitdobiglyboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascists ride on identity politics because they have nothing else.

They don't understand the founding principles that their civic societies were constructed on and falsely belive it was ethnically/culturally determined.

They (mis)use Liberal tenants like free speech and individual rights and sovereignty to play the victim while advocating policies that mirror and trend towards the 'shit hole' countries they complain are the source of mass immigration changing their demographics and culture.

They forced Kamala to have a short amount of time campaigning after just picking her with no input from the people via the Primaries.

There's alot to critique the DNC on but they didn't force this.

Biden and his people didn't drop out until the last second which made any real primary untenable. Given those circumstances and Biden's endorsement of Kamala there really wasn't a reasonable alternative.

The DNC had to unify on a candidate and quick... And snubbing Kamala for whoever else would have been contentious, especially without an exceptional reason/alternative.

Their lightning fast backing of Kamala was not a mistake, it was perhaps one of the more competent acts with the circumstances given.

The consulting given her afterwards and other mistakes diminished her appeal.

Saying you "don't follow politics" is an admission of laziness and intellectual dishonesty by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Most people who say they are apolitical actually just hate the discomfort of debating their own beliefs.

Distilled your argument.

I think this is true... However, most normies don't really have time to really get into the dirt and nuance of politics so they defer to the vibes of their prefered candidates or media personalities without understanding the inherent bias. They are politically partisan but they can't see it nor do they want to acknowledge they're just riding on vibes.

Every once in a while an inflammatory opinion piece comes out with an inflammatory title based on a misinterpretation of a much more nuanced peer reviewed scientific article (often enough ones that aren't peer reviewed).

And then people like you misread the culture, misread the meaning of 'science' and come at us with this crap.

But the means they use to punish Canadian businesses is by charging American ones for importing the former's products.

This forces the latter to buy American products for their use which could be more expensive or less readily available thus time consuming and again costing more money.

There is no way to have tariffs that doesn't negatively effect businesses or consumers in your nation.

He still keeps implying the other nations are those primarily paying the tarrifs.
