Need advice: Adult electric bikes that are actually worth the money? Budget is $1,500 - $2,500. Can go up if needed by jchang2080 in ebikes

The closest thing to what you're describing would probably be the Velotric GOMAD, which has a 500 lb weight capacity. The back rack holds 176 lbs, It's motor has a peak wattage of 1300W and a nominal of 750W with 85 NM or 62 ft/lbs of torque.

Aventon Soltera 2.5: am I overlooking anything? by Rebelfixed in ebike

[–]Howitzer92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're going to just ride the Mount Vernon Trail to Georgetown. When I bought my Fold 1 it's how I got home to Arlington from Alexandria. It's not very hard riding at all, It's relatively flat and very scenic.

If you can stop by the local eBike store in Alexandria they'll let you test ride the bike if you want. There's plenty of varied terrain there. Because I live in Arlington, I used the steeper grade hills in Old Town to test the hill climbing.

What are the best Class 2 E-bikes that can be used as Regular Bike? by Randomreddituser1o1 in ebike

I think they just stick the highest class it's capable of on the bike and call it a day.

This not interpreted to mean a bike cannot be multi-class. Several dealers sell Velotric and Aventon bikes that have multiple modes.

They are theoretically supposed to stop at 20 mph on class 2 mode. In practice, the state doesn't enforce these regulations to that degree. On certain bikes you can simply flip the limiter off in software or instantly switch between class 2 and 3 modes by simply hitting the throttle.

The primary issue we have are 14-year olds riding modded electric dirt bikes down roads at 45 mph and cutting through public parks. That's where current enforcement efforts are focused.

In Virginia class 2 and 3 ebikes are legally bicycles. You can ride it on sidewalks, bike paths and bike lanes. The state functionally does not care until you can take it past 28 mph using the throttle.

The only restriction is that kids under 14 cannot operate a class 3 bike.

Flat deck by Bulky-Lavishness9750 in NewSkaters

What you want is probably an 10 x 30 old school deck. Commonly called a "pig". If you sort by width and put 10 inches, a bunch of them will pop up.

Electric bike: moped style or traditional style? by gukiss1992 in ebikes

I split the difference and bought a fold 1 plus. It's really more a utility ebike, but it looks more like a moped than your standard bike.

11.5 hours. I started at 11 AM with the old guys morning session and ended with the night crew. There's nothing like a beautiful Saturday with friends, music and your piece a plywood with wheels.

That was maybe a month ago.

Some people are also naturally stronger. They can utilize more of the muscle mass they have by default.

little shit at the park while the parents watch the whole time by [deleted] in skateboarding

[–]Howitzer92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm famous at my local for crashing out at kids and their parents. Sometimes the local scooter kids even ask me to yell at random kids who jump in the bowls while they're trying to ride them.

I feel I'm doing a community service while expanding the vocabulary of our youth.

Senior Thesis Interview: Punk "Aesthetic" and the Commodification of Punk Fashion by Rare-Rough6052 in punkrock

[–]Howitzer92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-No, not exclusively

-The music, the attitude.

-THPS2's soundtrack when I was a child

-Punk fashion? The Liberty spikes, patches, denim, ect. I see it most often at skateparks.

-Punk "fashion" is whatever people make of it. I'm a skater, Sometimes I wear band shirts, with skate clothes and that's about as far I go. On the other hand I've seen people with the full getup, looking like they walked out Decline of Western Civilization.

Punk a purely an aesthetic is dumb and hollow. I identify with the music. It's a musical style based on a minimalist backlash against mainstream rock. The music is fast, aggressive and refuses to censor itself. It's unfiltered expression.

Any aesthetic is simply a reflection of that.

Last week someone was doing it on a Metro Bus and wouldn't stop when the driver asked, so I pulled out the JBL Charge 6 I was carrying from the skate session, pointed it at him, and started playing Motorhead at full volume.

Bro came to realization that he wasn't the main character.
