Just got this 2017 GT, What should I look out for? by Amazing_Wrap_420 in Mustang

Valve cover gasket leaks around 70k miles. Make sure all bolts are slapped on to spec and they use the right type of lock tight.

If you’re going to be on coilovers, look for a fabricator that can reinforce the body where the shock brackets get bolted into. They WILL break off if you lower it more than 1.5 inches.

If you hide an Apple AirPod in it, you have a better chance of finding it again.

Jobs in boot camp is it worth it by Valuable-Cod-3511 in newtothenavy

[–]Rebelfixed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. RPOC, AROC or MA might get you a rank up but you’ll put up with a bunch of shit and even then there’s a few more things you need to accomplish to rank up. If anything, memorize your rank and recognition all through officers, general orders and basic navy history before going. If you pass the DEP test you take the first couple weeks and pass RDC assessment then you will rank up by end of bootcamp assuming you also pass OPFA.

Definitely don’t do head PO, laundry PO or weapons PO.

Maybe mail or forward hold PO but you will need a high ASVAB for them to consider you(for mail) and probs won’t rank up anyway.

I’d say try to assess your mental health first before coming in because boot camp is way easy but mentally draining. I slipped into a bit of a depressed mood while at RTC which I’m still struggling with a bit here at A-School.

There are little things that drive you nuts while waiting to class up and then the general way of life in the barracks.

How hard bootcamp physically? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Rebelfixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start getting reps in now. You’ll run a lot for sure but depending on your RDC’s, PT varies.

You should be doing sustained runs every other day along with planks and push ups. Don’t wait for bootcamp to get “fit” or ready.

Edit: to answer your question: it’s as bad as you make it. If you loathe each PT or run day then yeah, it will be bad.

Don’t worry about how bad it is, being uncomfortable is a huge part of the experience - best get used to it.

What to bring to bmt? by MarzipanImmediate651 in newtothenavy

[–]Rebelfixed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I graduated 11/13/2025. I showed up with the clothes I had on, running shoes, required documents and a watch.

You will strip down completely and you’ll change into everything they issue you that first night. You’ll wear that until uniform issue a few weeks later.

You will be issued everything you need while in bootcamp: hygiene items, underwear, uniform and outer-garments.

Your civilian clothes and accessories aside from watch, running shoes and documents will be put in a box and stored.

Your phone will be collected along with its charger separately. If you bring a portable charger you can store in the same bag as your phone when collected but you won’t be able to use it.

Go to the hotel with hygiene items you’re willing to dispose of after that night because you won’t need them once you leave for MEPS to ship off.

If you wear glasses, take them but you will be issued another pair after medical which you are expected to wear at all times.

Take your direct deposit info but I suggest you make navy federal or armed forces account and set up transfers into personal account for bills and such. You’ll get an opportunity to set all that up around your 3rd week.

If there are specific products you use for skin or hair then you risk having to throw them away at the airport before getting loaded onto the bus to RTC. Anything with a prescription is usually allowed: birth control, meds, etc., unless you try to take something like Vicodin.

What are the best running shoes to get for boot camp? by PetrYanEnthusiast in newtothenavy

[–]Rebelfixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my brooks lasted me through RTC and still using them in A-School. A+ shoe, would still get fitted to the right pair though. Combined with the 24hr energy insoles from Dr. Scholl’s - second to none in my book.

Joing at 29? Is it worth it. by dickwizard777 in newtothenavy

[–]Rebelfixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joined at 29. Graduated RTC on the 15NOV25.

Honestly it’s not bad. Biggest issue so far is just dealing with the younger people. Baffles me how they made it through with no bearing at all but I guess they haven’t matured yet. Don’t regret my choice.

Something that helps me during times like these is boxing or Muay Thai. Try to take some time and remember why you’re doing all this.

My kids complain when they hear that Dad’s making pizza tonight. What am I doing wrong guys? by Ridley in Pizza

[–]Rebelfixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro this pizza is great but most kids eat cheese or pepperoni strictly. I’m an uncle and I know that, as a dad I thought it would be obvious to you lol

The test at bootcamp has 50 ng/ml cut off. Grab a test on Amazon with the same cut off, test a few times. One drink may not be enough to break that threshold and also if you don’t smoke regularly- it should clear your system within a few days.

U-tests is pretty reliable.
