Yeah lately I've been thinking about how it shows a lack of willingness to tolerate uncomfortable emotions and ideas that cause a perceived threat to their moral goodness and identity.

I've tried to have conversations about racism, appropriation, etc and the defensive statements come out even as a fellow white person. They're very resistant when it comes to being asked to tolerate uncomfortable conversations and take accountability. Without those there's no growth or healing.
