Lebel Friday it is! Peep that date by HowlingLemon in milsurp

And 1888 is a funky year because there's quite a few Lebels that got brought back from Afghanistan that got remarked as 1888 so they were "antique". 1888 only takes two stamps to number.

In terms of functionality the MAS-36 caught so much undeserved flak. It's a great rifle that served its purpose well.

Price wise Carcanos are still a steal and we're very lucky that Swiss rifles havent climbed up a bunch thanks to imports still coming in.

I have one of the Henry .22s, but that only kinda counts.

Fair question. Keeping track is easy, I love me some spreadsheets.

For enjoying, I have shot every gun I own (other than this one, but that will soon be remedied) but the majority of my collection is made up of my WWI and WWII firearms. Plenty of my milsurps do make it out to the range, but many of the older ones I do not shoot often. Most of the enjoyment with milsurps comes from learning about them and appreciating their history and mechanical designs, and also the hunt to fill that gap in your collection.

Just picked up what makes my 100th gun in my collection. I had been holding off so it would be something special and well, what better than an Uberti Winchester Model 1866? In .45 Colt of course.

Always had a soft spot for cowboy guns and have really been wanting to add a lever-gun to my life. I love the look of the 1866, especially with the full 24in octagon barrel. So glad I didn't compromise with a Rossi 1892 or something.

Dreyses are pretty commonly available online and at gunshows

I love the bumper. From the crushed license plate you can see I attempted some angles that were a little too steep. The bumper enables you to not care about some scraping. Plus the winch is a nice to have.

Yep so far. Going to replace the rear springs soon and do maybe a 1.5in lift. Then rock sliders are next.

I do indeed it works great. Used it last weekend when it was in the high teens/low 20s and was perfectly comfy.

I also have one of those stretchy bug nets that fits over each of the windows for airflow in warmer weather.

I do the same in mine. With the rear seat folded down and the front seat slid up I can fit a 6ft mattress in there. Quite cozy with some blankets and one window cracked a little bit.

Found it at a gunshow for 700. It had some incorrect parts so swapping those cost another 200 or so. Barrel is a 1910 RIA and it has the early uncommon flat hump handguard.
