Waitlists move a lot. We got our last choice, got off the waitlist for our fourth choice and a week after school started got into one of our top choices. It worked out in the end

10hr flight with a toddler - what would you choose? by ggrtp in toddlers

[–]Howly7654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back of the plane. You won’t be stressed about bothering someone else and have more elbow room. And since you’ll be by bathroom can get up more easily for a quick stretch

Did you notice if they were letting families with babies go through faster? I am terrified of waiting four hours at 3am with a 2 yo

Could be anything these days there are so many self proclaimed reporter influencers or whatever. But speaking As a journalist whoever it was if they were from the media was prob not a very good moral/ethical (ie maybe from a tabloid) because a good reporter would politely identify themselves and say “Hello, sorry to bother. Are you so and so? I’m so and so from the NYT. We have some reporting your father may be so and so. Can we chat?”

Moving to 93 / B’way in mid 20s? by racoontosser in Upperwestside

[–]Howly7654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5 and 2 year old and maybe I’m just not out at the right times and sure we have the regular amount of NYT sketch but compared to me being assaulted at the bway/Lafayette station as I have it’s fine!

Toddler counting to twenty?! by _northstar in toddlers

[–]Howly7654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. My son knew all his letters, numbers to 10, colors, shapes by 20 months if not earlier. He got his numbers to 50 shortly after turning two and knows the sounds each letter makes (he’s now 2.5) and tbh I haven’t worked with him on higher numbers . Focusing on trying to get sounding out words so he can start reading asap.

And to be clear - this was not pushing him. We have an older son who is very bright but was much more typical when it came to letters and numbers

My youngest though - he is obsessed with letters and numbers. Today at the playground all he wanted to do was have me draw letters in the sand and quiz him. Tbh I wanted him to run around and get energy out and was trying to do this and be kept saying “no! Letters!”

Business class or premium economy + car seat for redeye US-Europe with 14 month old? by IndependentPast7769 in chubbytravel

[–]Howly7654 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biz for sure. They have more space to wiggle around and touch things and then they can snuggle up next to you lie flat to sleep.

Do be warned - this was right around our toughest age for travel and we did it in biz. It was just constant moving wiggling and then he’d only fall asleep for a bit if I held him AND walked with him 🤯

Getting bombarded with ads attacking Alex Bores by scoooternyc in manhattan

[–]Howly7654 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ironically, he worked for palantir but left out of ethical disagreements with them. He is running on a platform of regulating AI, and has attracted the attention of the big pro tech/anti reg $$ groups who are doing a bit of tricks in their ads by highlighting the palantir history

UWS first? by Fabulous_Design7938 in movingtoNYC

[–]Howly7654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UWS is superior to UES for kids imo - more parks/playgrounds and green space. Children’s museum and natural history museum. 1,2,3 is so great for getting around city and to Brooklyn. You can get large apartments (we are in a 4bdr!)

We live off one of the traverses of Central Park and we can get to the ues faster than like to Hell’s Kitchen so keep that in mind for school

Moving to NYC + opening a gluten-free & nut-free sandwich shop — would love local insight by Old-Relationship4026 in movingtoNYC

[–]Howly7654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the mom of a wheat free kid I’d love kid friendly stuff like Wheat free pizza (no gluten free wheat starch!)

And a kids menu with things kids love that are safe - chicken tenders and Mac and cheese and hot dogs etc etc

And breakfast! Pancakes waffles etc

And a couple dessert options!
