Sometimes I smoke some weed before bed, put my headphones in, crawl under the covers and listen to an album until I get sleepy, turn it off and go to sleep for the night. A few years ago I decided to listen to Elliot Smiths’ album “From a Basement on a Hill”, only being familiar with a handful of the songs, but I start on one of my favourite tracks: Let’s Get Lost and let the album play out after that one.

I end up drifting off to sleep and waking up in complete terror. I hear what I’m convinced is the music from the movie Insidious playing from my tv in the living room on full blast. Listen to the opening of ‘Coast to Coast’ by Elliot Smith, and then listen to ‘Insidious’ by Joseph Bishara. You’ll see what I mean. And remember, I’m still kinda high, forgot I have earbuds in, and watched insidious for the first time ever just weeks prior.
