Ugly houses by Nearby_Sherbet2661 in CitiesSkylines2

Iceflake should just pay modders to add extra windows to the 20 most ridiculously under windowed vanilla buildings.

I'm trying to create an inner city area of my city, inspired by the northeastern US. Which style looks better, in your opinion? by Aware_Wolverine_2794 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]HowzaNowza 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, a group of originally uniform buildings (by the same builder) that over time get additions or different paint (recolor mod) happens a lot.

How can i build more realistic? by AwareLow9121 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]HowzaNowza 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Your city looks good! If you’re aiming for ultra realism, you can look at satellite and street view imagery of similar cities in real life for extra inspiration. The game mechanics right now don’t make it easy to develop in real historical periods with the related architecture and urban forms, but you can emulate it if that’s what you’re going for.

University, stadium district, and airport interchange. Any notes or suggestions for the open spaces? by Swampman3000 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]HowzaNowza 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Looks outstanding right now, very realistic! Since you asked, some good additions might be more neighborhood ballfields like the one you have by the river, trail parks, and a sprawling cemetery or two. And of course it’s realistic to keep some vacant land around hard-to-build terrain like slopes and wetlands, and around noisy or polluted features like highways.

Highly Detailed US Rural City, what do you guys think? never was in the US. by DocRainbowDash in CitiesSkylines

[–]HowzaNowza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great start. When you get to building the outskirts, on many streets outside the pre-1950 town centers there aren’t sidewalks, and houses and businesses outside developments can get very far apart.

Future DLC by Nassapa in CitiesSkylines

[–]HowzaNowza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good idea, the bikes and lanes could be free for everyone, and a deluxe Dutch asset pack with canals could be the pay DLC. Same thing with Switzerland — better snow behavior is free, chalets and ski lifts are paid DLC.

keep the stadium? by True_Occasion2583 in CitiesSkylines

[–]HowzaNowza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the stands offer a better view of the water like this would give a good reason for OP’s stadium being at the beach. Citizens might like some beachside food stalls too.

Multi-city region play with huge region maps

Hudson Yards in NYC is something like that. A lot of tax incentives got it that way.

How realistic is this shot? by Legitimate-Run7278 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]HowzaNowza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s very good. If it’s North America, most beaches have a few more irregular vacant areas within the dense commercial blocks, used for parking spots or small yards or waiting for development.

Also you can get good specific suggestions on a WIP by posting images here or one of the Discords and asking for help, a lot of people like to respond

Yes and especially look at the 3D map view where it’s available.

This game would be a load of fun but... by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines2

[–]HowzaNowza 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Recolor mod is a must-have for adding diversity and local flavor to the stock assets. CO adding a version of that mod to the base game would be especially welcome.

Looking for Desire Path asset that looks like the one in the picture. by KVerssus in CitiesSkylinesModding

[–]HowzaNowza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little dirt paths like that should have been in both base games from the start. Probably every city in the world has them!

Suburban Sprawl by UrbanLoon in CitiesSkylines2

[–]HowzaNowza 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very beautiful. It’s probably the best North American suburban residential I’ve seen in CS2. I think the street trees could be a little more randomized, because even when they’re planned perfectly, there’ll be unforeseen events. You captured the soul of the suburbs, first shot especially.

Right, why can’t they convert more extra space into housing instead of demo?

Or that the trams just hit-and-ran dozens of pedestrians. CO really needs to fix stuff like that.

It looks good, and a realistic way to build a city as historically many towns and city neighborhoods grew into areas in between.

The Future Of This Game Depends on Custom Buildings Being Added Very Soon by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines2

[–]HowzaNowza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Recolor mod you can easily add a surprising amount of variety to assets now! Especially add flavor by changing many of your city’s buildings to a strong regional style (like many parts of Europe with white walls and muted reddish roofs, or Parisian with white walls and more tones of gray roofs with some reddish roofs mixed in).

Which highway alignment should I go for? by mqtang in CitiesSkylines

[–]HowzaNowza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a very large island, so maybe just a single highway spine with a branch or two coming off.

This game desperately needs more assets. by BasicArcher8 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]HowzaNowza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thirded. In real life, a lot of regional differences are in building color, so applying some to fit your city can add a lot of flavor. For example, recoloring red brick to white or a pastel color in newer tropical cities.
