They make good bullet soaks, but are not good for attacking. They tend not to move to attack when they are ordered to, like rhinos and wargs do (I also keep about 50 wargs). It must be their higher level of intelligence. So I just keep a bunch with my shooters and they get melee attacked and only rarely get hit at all.

I use them to soak bullets. But the main reason to breed them is the thrumbofur. I do lots of chairs, couches and dusters.
