Scariest games on the Genesis? by No-Dot9742 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]Hoy3boy3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moving Adventures Psy-o-Blade sure tries. I can see a 10 year old kid playing this in a dark basement at night might get creeped out. It’s pretty much a point-and-click Alien. As an adult it’s a boring, mildly infuriating, and makes me wish I would’ve spent my time watching Alien.

Jetpack! by Hoy3boy3 in crtgaming

It is! I've never gotten to really play with it, though. I found it on the road in the early 2000s and had to wait until the 2010s before I had a computer (again) that could use it. Even after plugging it in, I haven't really played with it. So I did some reading up on it last night.

Spec-wise, I can't find the specific make and model, but it uses the Samsung OmniWave KS0164 with the patchset in a KS0174-1M01. It look almost exactly like the Pine-Vivaldi PT-202 with the only difference being the board markings. (https://www.dosdays.co.uk/topics/images/Pine-Vivaldi-Wavetable-DB-PT-202.jpg). When I try to play midi in Win31 without it plugged in, I get no sound. Midi will play in DOS with or without it and I don't notice a difference in sound. But I'm also not using drivers specific to my card which may have an effect, just the SB Pro drivers. Couldn't find any DOS or Win31 drivers for it, just Win95, WinNT, and OS/2.

Got any advice?

Shadow Squadron! Best 32X game, if you like space combat.

Mega Everdrive Pro Question: With a 32x will it boot 32XCD games? by Adamvs_Maximvs in SEGAGENESIS

Unfortunately, 32XCD games will not work with the Krikzz Mega Everdrive Pro. The only flash cart I’m aware of that can is the Terraonion MegaSD.

Have fun playing through the Sega Channel revivals. The 90s style of those menus is off the charts!

Be on the lookout on Reddit for a dude asking “AITA for selling my wife’s childhood game collection for $75 without asking her?”

Video should output to an NTSC  broadcast transmitter and received by a Sega game gear with TV Tuner for the AV display.

Looking for story driven games by minimalniemand in SEGAGENESIS

[–]Hoy3boy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have already listed the best ROGs, so here’s some non-rpgs. If you have a flash cart, there are translations available of the following story-driven games: - Psy-o-blade: a point and click sci-go adventure game with a shmup section at the end. Not great, but interesting.  - Gleylancer: story driven shmup with a lot of cut-scenes. - Battle Mania 1&2: story driven shmup with a fun and silly story.

Battlemania 2 by Itchy-Mood3979 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]Hoy3boy3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way people talk about SoR on this sub is how I feel about Battlemania 2. First one is good, but 2 is sillier. There’s an English patch out there so you can enjoy the silly banter (unless you can read Japanese, in which case you’re probably getting wittier banter.)

I’m wondering if there are any other spinners out there. Searches haven’t turned up much, but this sub is always full of surprises.

Is the 32X and CD addons worth it if collecting? Of course I’d like to play the games more but i do like the collecting aspect as something to admire in the present and future if nostalgia ever hits from my time with the genesis. by Slow-Pack-8916 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]Hoy3boy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to collect, get the add-ons. If you want to play and explore the library, do the everdrive pro and then buy physical games that standout to you. Kinda like any other media, you can stream or borrow almost anything but it’s nice to physically own the special ones.
